A converted industrial building along Kreuzbergs canal is home of Spindler, a gourmet experience in Berlin's most legendary district. The kitchen is modern European with a french accent. Well cooked from market fresh products, with ingredients sourced as regional as possible. You find best dry aged steaks, wild caught fish and creative dishes for vegetarians. The menu is seasonal and changes in irregular intervals. If you like to eat in an relaxed bohemian atmosphere, Spindler is the right choice for you. There is also the cocktailbar and a nice range of french and german wines.

We would have had a 5 star rating but we were disappointed in customer service. Despite being 5 minutes early for our outside garden reservation for two, we were seated inside the restaurant and there were no other people in there. Since we had made a reservation for outside we even offered to wait for an available table...we were told it "was not possible". So, having come from the US with hopes of experiencing this highly rated French restaurant in Berlin, we sat by ourselves while the garden patio bustled with a beautiful ambiance and... wait for it.... no less than 5 open tables. As a two top it was insulting to be cast away from the loveliness of the restaurant's patio when there was indeed an option to seat us there. We even asked if we could simply have our dessert on the patio (at that point there were even more seats available) and were refused (and no, there was no language confusion as my husband is German). I have worked in restaurants for many years so I understand how table service flow works...There was no reason we should have been outcast to the inside... especially since we had a reservation made (and confirmed) for outside. Disappointing as everything else was lovely but that left a sour taste in our mouths.

Dear Amelia, thank you for your rating. Yes you are absolutely right, I would be disappointed too. This is not, how you should feel in our restaurant. If you are still in Berlin, please come back and feel invited to sit on the terrace and we serve you a nice Apero and some bites "on the house". Are you still in Berlin, please mail me to my email adres , you find it on our webpage, I cannot write it here cause of open table don´t allow it.

Schönes Restaurant und gutes Essen, aber sehr unbefriedigender Service. Wir mussten 1,5 Stunden warten, um Essen zu bekommen, und im Allgemeinen mussten wir auf alles warten, z. B. auf Getränke, Nachtisch, Kaffee, Bezahlung usw. Für ein Restaurant dieser Preisklasse muss es viel besser sein.

Lauschiger und angenehmer kann man einen Sommerabend in Berlin, im eher tobenden Kreuzberg/Neukölln kaum verbringen.

Lovely setting under the terrace surrounded by plants. Food was delicious, especially the koft, and staff were super friendly.

Leider war der Service der für uns zuständigen Bedienung nicht schön. Sie wirkte mega gestresst, fahrig. Wir waren kurz davor zu fragen, ob wir eine andere Bedienung bekommen können, da das für die Stimmung zum Essen nicht sngenehm war. Für low-budget Restaurent ok (ist trotzdem zu diskutieren), aber in diesem Preissegment erwarteten wir etwas anderes. Das Essen war für den Preis nicht so exquisit -insbesondere der Sud der Muscheln war viel zu fettig. Und zu guter Letzt: die Stühle im Gartenbereich sind total unbequem! Wenn ich im Internet etwas bewerte, dann eigentlich nur positiv, aber der gestrige Abend im Restaurent war nicht angenehm!

I love the vibe: relaxed but friendly and efficient service. Old-fashioned proper napkins and good china. Good imaginative, but not silly.
