Ouvert à l'été 1999, SOCIAL a été conçu en tant que mélange parfait de restaurant et de bar. Il avait été imaginé comme un endroit où les clients pourraient profiter d'un verre en soirée sans se sentir obligés d'y déguster le souper, mais où un menu séduisant rappellerait que la nourriture est toujours une excellente option. Lorsqu'il a ouvert ses portes, SOCIAL fut le premier restaurant dans la capitale à proposer régulièrement la musique. Dix ans plus tard, SOCIAL continue de briller, reconnu dans la capitale pour sa créativité ainsi que son ambiance chic et moderne. Avec des plafonds de près de 5 mètres de haut, un décor ultramoderne et de magnifiques murs en pierres, ce restaurant vous offre une atmosphère unique pour savourer un souper ou quelques cocktails après le travail. In the last few years, SOCIAL has undergone some layout improvements. The lower lounge is now a private area that can accommodate up to 18 people for dinner, and some space was annexed from next door to open the S-Lounge - a private dining room for groups of 28 or combined with the adjacent room can seat up to 50 guests. There is also the upper lounge area that can host up to 24 people for a sit down dinner. Last but not least there is the front dining room. This area has an open feel and can accommodate up to 28 people for a dinner. There are many options which can accommodate anything from large business meetings to intimate parties.

Live music can be heard every Tuesday and Wednesday night in the summer on the Courtyard - a mix of jazz, acid jazz and blues. An assortment of DJs are spinning on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights all year round.

food portions small-prices high. 9oz glass of Chenin 22.75$ plus tax plus tip-ridiculous. positive-servers were very nice and food was ok but not great. Would not go back except for an event

When I raised a question about the cost of an item on the bill, waitress stated we may have had an old copy of the menu. After we left, I confirmed with the online menu that I was correct and was overcharged by $10 on that particular item.

I am so sad that with many nice places to eat in Ottawa that this is where I went. Slowest service I have experienced at a restaurant in a decade. Twenty minutes before cocktail order taken, another twenty before cocktail arrives, more than two hours before entree arrived, and chicken so incredibly overcooked , almost inedible but couldn’t take time after so long to even discuss . I really wish restaurant had just said ‘we’re at capacity’ and I would have known to go elsewhere… nice setting, pretty building. Please reflect on capacity, I really wish I had known, and been able to spend a looked forward to night elsewhere

Good overall but I don’t know why it was rated so highly for brunch. It is an average restaurant with average food. There isn’t anything that made it outstanding.

Nous voulions bruncher et avons choisi le Social. Le restaurant est beau, cependant il y avait personne. La serveuse était agréable et efficace, cependant les plats n’étaient pas à la hauteur des prix. Remarque spéciale pour la sauce hollandaise qui était fantastique !!!

We eat at Social whenever we’re in Ottawa and have enjoyed every experience here. Delicious food and great service. We’ll be back again.

You really can't beat Social's lovely patio on a sunny summer day! My son and I had a great celebratory lunch. The salmon and Social bowl were delicious, healthy and fresh. $36 for one of our selections, however, was a bit steep and seemed exaggerated for a lunchtime meal, but it was a special occasion. The young woman who served us was absolutely lovely and helped make our experience all the more pleasant. Happy memory -- and we will be back, for sure.
