Priding ourselves on our motto ‘Famous for fish’ Smiths Restaurants is a name that has become synonymous with fine dining and quality, attentive service. Our restaurants are located in Ongar Essex (just off the A414) and Wapping in central London (near Tower Bridge). Both restaurants boast an extensive menu of fresh fish that we offer to cook in a variety of ways to suit every palette. We also offer locally sourced meat dishes to accommodate those who prefer their food terra firma. To compliment the quality of our food we have worked closely with well renowned independent wine merchants to ensure we have a selection of wines that are the perfect accompaniment to every meal. The only problem you may have a Smith’s is being spoilt for choice.

Had a lovely lunch today the set menu in the week has alot of choice , was given wrong beer , side order but didn’t bother mentioning it as it was nice anyway , good quality food lovely atmosphere will be returning again and like to try Sunday lunch

food was excellent, we had a sunday roast and it did not disappoint. service was oustanding, staff were very attentative.

Our first Sunday lunch at Smiths and what can I say, it was the best roast I have ever had! The beef just melted in my mouth. Smiths is a true shining star. Never ever had a bad meal or experience. The staff are exceptional!

The food & service was fantastic as usual, the only thing that spoilt our evening was that on arrival we we told we had got there too early ( 1hour) as we wanted to celebrate & have a couple of cocktails first, we were advised we should only arrive 30 minutes early & it was in the terms & conditions of booking which I couldn’t find anywhere , they did let us go up to the bar & there was only 2 people in there so really couldn’t see what the issue was? This is not the first time we’ve done this & it’s never been a problem before . We even phoned first to see if the bar was open & was told it was but not advised you are only allowed in it for 30 minutes - not a good start to what would have been a perfect evening.

Everything was really good but I found the price a little bit on the high side. More of a London price rather than an Essex one.

I have enjoyed visiting Smiths many, many times over the years, it never disappoints. Service and food are always excellent, it's always busy whatever time you go. Perfect place to celebrate an occasion or have a nice treat at lunchtime. We'll be back again soon!

Management very rude and services weren't 100%. I understand that there are time lines and the next seating was fast approaching but the way we was harassed to leave our table wasn't very professional. If the food is slow coming our then that is a factor in eating into your time allowed on the table.
