A no nonsense Brick Lane curry house, Sheba was the setting of the Peter Kay commercial for John Smiths. It’s not difficult to see why the producers chose this restaurant out of so many. Opened in 1972, it has long been the epitome of the family run Indian restaurant. Having undergone several improvements over the years, Sheba is contemporary and smart, decorated in a fiery red with Bollywood movies playing on the big screen. A host of awards and accolades are proof of Sheba’s ability to produce what is widely accepted to be the best Indian, Bangladeshi and Pakistani cuisine on Brick Lane, with connoisseurs returning time and again to sample fine vegetarian, meat and indeed seafood dishes. One of the longest standing restaurants in the area, Sheba is about much more than just the lamb bhuna.

Fabulous indisch Restaurant. Fine chicken tikka, butter chicken, good lamb tandoori and fine Happy chicken curry. Good Indish cobra beer. Fab service and quick.

Great food, bustling atmosphere, an enjoyable evening. A couple in our group were delayed and waiters were borderline rude when we asked to delay ordering by ten minutes - spoilt the experience

The restaurant took too much bookings for the evening. We were told 2 times to come back in 30 minutes. The booking was for 19.30 after 20.45 we left for another place. T

We chose this restaurant as a special treat for friends visiting from the US. They were keen to try a really good curry restaurant so we went on the reviews as it scores so highly. Very disappointed. Service was very slow. We tried 3 times to order food as had kids but waiter kept saying someone will come. An hour from arrival to getting food. Kept asking for water for the table and one glass would come. Food was not hot. It was all very bland. Restaurant very noisy. Despite saying, you can order extra naans if you want, the service was too slow to allow us to do that. Then having paid, and still finishing drinks they asked us to get off the table. We’d not even been there 2 hours in total. (Party of 8) Would not go back and not sure where the accolades come from.

Had a reservation at 8 and waited almost an hour to get sat. People walked off the street and got sat at the same time as us. Staff was rude and we were ignored. Food was good.

Restaurant didn’t accept booking made with Open Table and asked to wait for an hour. We didn’t wait and found other restaurant. They explained that system accepts automatically and they don’t check it because they have a booking list on paper. Ridiculous!
