The service was top notch and the food was amazing. We ordered two dim sum (the lobster/chicken dumplings based on our server's recommendation and the pork dumpling), the peking duck for two and spicy green beans. We also split a piece of heavenly chocolate cake for dessert. Every dish was so delicious, and it was the perfect amount of food. Our cocktails were also great. Our two servers were so attentive but not overbearing, and they were friendly and approachable, too. Can't wait to go back!

It was so fun! Sat in the lobby and ordered off the Shanghai menu. And added the seasonal chocolate bar. We brought 2 kids with us. Ambiance was great bc of the piano music.

Fabulous food; ate in main restaurant. Appetisers were very special indeed; shrimp in a light mustard mayonnaise coating and the hot and sour were superb. As it’s part of the Peninsula hotel; very fancy -a great idea to visit their roof top terrace bar either before or afterwards. They even give you a blanket.

It’s unclear why lobby hotel seating is offered on a very expensive and exclusive top restaurant. It completely ruins the experience. I for sure won’t book again.

It’s a dinner we look forward to every time we’re able to obtain a reservation. Excellent on all fronts! The menu is varied and everything we’ve had over the years is beautifully prepared and the presentation is excellent! The service is consistently top notch and the look and ambience of the restaurant and terrace are perfect and delightfully old school. And the fact that it is located in the Peninsula Hotel, one of the elite hotels in downtown Chicago, only adds to its allure. My wife and I who live in the Gold Coast downtown joke that every time we dine here it makes us feel like we’ve begun an exotic vacation. Can you tell we love this place?? Kudos to the staff and management!

We had dinner for two from Shanghai terrace that was served in the Lobby area. The dining venue is great and the Peking Duck and Australian Abalone were outstanding. Service as usual was impeccable. A night and meal to remember!
