Slow and utterly ambivalent bartenders. Great steak cuts and cooked to appropriate temperature. Barely edible crabcakes. Fishy smelling and only discernable flavor was salt. Sides - creamed spinach and loaded hashbrowns were tasty. Floor server was solid but as they cut other servers had too large an area to cover with appropriate level of attention. Manager was attentive, upbeat, and trying hard to show care for customers. With patrons wearing everything from dresses to flip-flops, gym shorts and tee shirts, the ambiance resembled a fast food joint more than a classy chophouse. May be worst overall steakhouse in Madison area.

Steak was just ok (a lot more gristle than a normal porterhouse for 2), but sides, service, and ambiance were excellent

I had the crab cake appetizer and ravioli appetizer as my dinner. Ravioli could have been hotter. The crab cakes were outstanding as always. The steaks my 3 dining companions had were not doing that sizzling thing when they came to the table so I assume they had not just come off the grill as usual. My wife said the hash browns were undercooked. Rombauer Chardonnay was excellent and a healthy pour but at $26 a glass seemed overpriced when I can get a bottle for $36. Our server Wilton was great! Cocktails pre-dinner in the bar were excellent. I think they were maybe understaffed a bit in light of the World Dairy Expo going on this week. 3 large tables near us were all talking dairy farming. One of the coziest places in Madison to dine. I imagine I will be back again soon.

My husband said it was the best leg of lamb he’d ever had. The Van Duzer wine was excellent as were the crab stuffed mushrooms. They were unfortunately out of shrimp cocktails. Very nice “Happy Birthday” presentation of my sister-in-law’s dessert. Nice, quiet ambiance in front of the fireplace. No kids there was an added bonus. Great service.

The food was delicious however the waitress made a few unnecessary comments and made us feel rushed the entire time. It was our first time going for a special occasion and I don’t feel the need to return again.

What an attentive staff. Our waitstaff were AMAZING and the management continuously checked to be sure that we were well cared for! The food at Ruth's is always top quality.
