Set in historic Herndon, the Russia House Restaurant offers Russian hospitality and culinary excellence in all its details. The restaurant opened in July of 1992 by the friendly owners Ali and Homeyra Darugar, and together they created an atmosphere of aristocratic dining with classic cuisine, with the warm feeling that you are dining at your aristocratic grandmother’s table. Mrs. Darugar moved from Russia with her grandparents to Switzerland, where she learned to cook in her grandmother’s kitchen. She brought her great culinary talents here to the United States and created the exquisite menu and served as the head chef in the first few years the restaurant was opened. We love Russia House. The owners are so gracious that we feel like we are being invited into their home for dinner. The food is exquisite, the ambiance perfect. They have an extensive menu, with some items off menu they will prepare on request. We have been going to Russia House for many years and look forward to going back. We really like the borscht. I had the duck breast with sour cherries. It was perfect. My wife and son had chicken with walnut sauce, which was also perfect. Highly recommended!

A lovely dinner with friends. Three of us got the duck and it was superb. A wonderful ambiance for a leisurely dinner when you just want to relax and enjoy food and friends.

The food was AMAZING! The cocktails were superb! Service was impeccable. It was the perfect location for an elegant dinner out. We will go back next time we are in town.

Delicious food and friendly service in a Cozy, elegant building. Food Was’Wonderful but in the pricy side. It was Mother’s Day so I think Was a special menu.

This was our first visit to Russia House and it was well worth the wait. The Seared Scallops, , Black Lumpfish Caviar, Borscht soup and Moldavian Salad were all superb, and served at just the right temperature. Special meal.

Great restaurant. Fresh ingredients. The food was fantastic. Service was excellent. Definitely a place we will return. One of us had salmon with caviar on top. One had beef stroganoff which was top shelf.
