    We generally love Roy’s. Visit Hawaii Kai regularly. We had requested view table if possible, also birthday. There were plenty of window tables available and the restaurant never filled up. Also no mention of birthday, we know Roy’s always extends appreciation for special occasions. Service was slow and hap hazard. Possibly due this being a tourist location they fill service is not a priority. If visiting I would try one of one the many other great restaurants.

    Always enjoy Roy’s but this time although food was very good, service was spotty. After our orders were taken, salads came almost immediately, wine never appeared, had to ask the waiter to deliver the 2 glasses we had ordered We had waited some minutes. Food delivery was slow as well, and to finish we requested the traditional dessert of molten chocolate cake. The waiter came to present the bill but it was not ours. We pointed out that we had not received dessert yet, why the bill? He apologized and shortly after dessert arrived. When he did appear with the check, he said he had to take care of the ladies at the table next to us “ to split the bill”. So we waited patiently for our bill, long after dessert was consumed; the meantime coffee was ordered from the busboy who very quickly obliged. A disappointing evening.

    This location was disappointing compared to others where we have dined. Service was slow and haphazard. We asked for 1 glass of wine to share to make sure we liked it prior to buying a bottle. Our server arrived with 2 glasses and said he knows the bartender o enjoy. Then we got charged for it on our bill - along with a dessert we didn't order. Just clueless - hopefully not sneaky! For the money, there are better places.

    The restaurant was particularly busy the evening of our dinner, though our waitress and the manager kept us updated on the status of our orders. When the main dishes arrived-the Butterfish, Ono, and seared Ahi were all excellent. The attentiveness of the staff and complimentary Chocolate Soufflé more than made up for the minor delay in the arrival of our main entrees.

    We were dining at Roy's on our last night on the Big Island and celebrating our 45th Anniversary. We are familiar with this particular restaurant because we ate here 10 years ago for our 35th Anniversary! My husband was particularly interested in the Butter Fish! It did not disappoint! However, I ordered the Argentinian Ribeye,med rare w/Cabernet Demi on the side . When my entrée arrived to the table it was very rare. Our waitress was very apologetic and returned the entire meal to the chef. Everyone else at the table enjoyed their meal and were completely finished eating when my meal was returned to me at least 20 minutes later! My Steak was cooked perfectly this time however the Cabernet Demi was lathered all over my medium rare Steak! Our waitress again apologized and offered to have the Chef cook me another steak! I refused to let her take the steak away again! I ate the steak with the sauce on it, enjoyed the grilled Asparagus and the Mashed potatoes were very yummy! Our waitress filled my glass with another glass of Chardonnay which I enjoyed as well! Shexalso gave us a complimentary dessert for our Anniversary! The manager took my meal off our bill which was not necessary buy very much appreciated! The wait staff was friendly and could not have been more attentive despite the errors in the kitchen! We will return to a Roy's especially for the Butter Fish!

    Service was amazing, wine recommendations perfect, food delicious. Always a treat to visit when on the Island.

    We had an outstanding dinner at Roy’s. Our server named Heather was incredibly patient as we worked our way through the menu to determine what we wanted to have for dinner. We always ask for her when we have dinner there.

    There was a green worm in my wife’s salad. We pointed out the worm to the manager and left the restaurant immediately. We couldn’t trust the quality of the food. It was undoubtedly the worst experience we had at a restaurant.

    Expected to have Mahi Mahi and was offered pink snapper as the white fish choice - really. Wine pours are wimpy - not the best night at Roy's.
