La mission du restaurant Roots est de créer de délicieux plats à partir d'ingrédients frais et locaux. Le Vermont offre une abondance agricole de produits savoureux, de viande, de produits laitiers et d'autres aliments qui sont constituent la base du menu du Roots. Le chef Donald Billings s'est engagé à fournir des repas abordables peu transformés, à base d'ingrédients cultivés localement, incluant des cultures biologiques et du bétail élevé sans cruauté et nourri dans les pâturages. Had another great dinner - the menu is varied - quick service - my only suggestion is to offer 1/2 salads - entirely too much kale - the scallop topped salad was awesome - the butternut squash soup was very tasty - my husband enjoyed the salmon entree - The online reservation system is easy to use The flowers for the women were a nice touch Hope to repeat next year

Had a wonderful time at Roots. The ambience, service and food was great. The mussels were amazing and they come with this rich tangy garlic tomato sauce. My husband and son ordered the salmon and I ordered the almond crusted cod with sweet potato hash and amaretto butter which was amazing. Great place with a really fun atmosphere

Who knew Rutland had this gem? Great pub steak and buffalo shrimp. My son and I sat at the bar and had an amazing experience! Great beer and drink selections. Next time I’m in town, I WILL be back.

We had dinner at ROOTS before a show at the Paramount Theatre. Dinner was delicious. All five of loved our mains and the desserts were over the top.

Roots is one of those rare establishments that is beyond modest and understated in everything until the food arrives. Amazing plating, creative dishes, fresh ingredients and just incredible. It’s been farm to today from inception without name dropping much or if at all. Have been a regular for years when in town to see family, and back in the day trusted with some special family events booth at restaurant and outside. Roots is an absolute foodie paradise but in most unpretentious setting. While I eat at plenty of restaurants annually all over North America roots is always one of favorite meals of the year of the year.

Roots has a nice ambience and a diverse selection of food and libations. I would definitely recommend. Just know that Google has a very hard time locating it since it is behind buildings and many of the alleys were closed this January evening.
