About ROKA

The name ROKA carries great meaning - ROKA is a meeting place where food and drinks are shared with friends (ro) and heat, warmth and an all-embracing energy surround (ka). The principle cuisine is from the robata grill, which originates from the fishermen of the northern coastal waters off japan, who would cook the fish on the boats with different charcoals and share the bounty with one another using their oars.

ROKA charlotte street opened in 2004, ROKA canary wharf in 2009, ROKA mayfair in february 2014 and ROKA aldwych in october 2014.

Kindly note that our set brunch menu is served throughout lunchtime on Saturdays and all day on Sundays – a la carte menu is not available during this time. Menus may vary according to date, time and location, please check menus prior to booking.

We had a wonderful dinner at Roka. We went for the premium tasting menu, my sister doesn’t eat beef so they kindly swapped 2 of the dishes for us. The presentation, quality of food, the volume - all incredible!! We especially loved the black cod and the dessert platter! A special thank you to Andrea for looking after us so well!

Canary Wharf is a usual favourite of mine but on this occasion, it was hugely disappointing. On a Saturday evening where the restaurant was not full but lively, I expected far more from the service. Not until we were served mains we were offered water. Our server messed up our sushi starter which then was brought out mid way through our mains which was not quite appetising for the palette. I’ve always loved the sushi at Roka but this felt rushed and really underwhelming. The sea-bream was fantastic I’ll give that. This was a birthday celebration and was not recognised as most celebrations are at any establishment. After being offered desserts no one came over again for almost 25minutes and we could not get the attention of anyone until we had to approach the staff. Was almost over charged for their error which was then rectified. This was really a saddening experience to say the least especially for a birthday.

Amazing food and service the only thing was when booking I ticked the birthday celebration as it was my daughter’s birthday that day and nothing was said or done but overall amazing

Excellent service - I had a concern with one of the dishes and the manager and staff were very understanding and warm. Staff are attentive and professional. Food was great - particularly the sushi and chilli edamame. Drinks were great. I thin ambience was good but could have been a bit better - something for the team to explore? Overall I will be returning!

Fantastic restaurant and service as always. I went here with my girlfriend (now fiancée!) on our first date and it worked out well thankfully! 3 years later ie now I took her back there to ask the question and propose. Again thankfully she said yes! The staff did an amazing job, I had told them of my proposal plan beforehand on the phone - they secured a quiet intimate (but not too quiet) table for us, and brought a dessert saying “Will you marry me?” after main course. And the service throughout was fantastic. Thanks again Roka Staff you were all amazing!

Service was a bit patchy which often happens when a restaurant is not busy, getting the waitresses attention was often difficult. Food excellent and good value
