Food was good but the restaurant was understaffed. At one point we didn’t see our waiter for 30 minutes

The artichoke appetizer was delicious. The cascarelle pesto with shrimp - the pasta and pesto were great but the shrimp was way overcooked. My husband got the fettuccine with clams and most of the clam shells were empty, although the clams that were there were great. I don’t know if there was something special going on that night, or if it’s normally like this, but they had live music in the bar, which we could hear in the dining room, and at the same time, at the other end of the dining room, they were blasting 70s dance music. It was annoying and made it hard to have a conversation.

Last night I took my two adult sons to the restaurant. We were seated next to a low wall that divided the dining area from the bar area. The noise level was high and it was difficult to hear my son that sat across from me so he moved next to me. No one had told us and we were unaware that they were going to be having live music in the bar area. As soon as the music started my son and I looked at each other and knew that we needed to move as now we would definitely not be able to be having a conversation without yelling. He asked our waitress to please move us into the other section of the restaurant. She was not the friendliest to begin with and now she seemed almost annoyed. She said something to the effect like now I'll have to change everything. Then she told us she would move us and we should bring our own drinks. I don't know about you but part of the dining experience is the customer service. Even if you're in a bad mood you should behave as if you're in a great mood. We did not feel at all welcomed by this young lady. We ordered a cheese board for the appetizer. While it was good it was also uninteresting. Cheese, grapes, salami. pepperoni and some toasted bread. I had scallops over risotto, one son had pasta with seafood, the other had chicken francese. My son enjoyed his pasta with seafood but felt there wasn't very much pasta. My other son thought the chicken was boring with too much sauce and the breading was not crispy. I felt my scallops were slightly undercooked and honestly were nothing special. I had a glass of wine my sons had soda. One son had a piece of cake for dessert. For $148 plus a $30 tip to total $178 I wish I had been at least somewhat wowed by at least one dish. Both of my sons thought the waitress did not deserve a 20% tip because she was not friendly at all. In summary we thought the food nothing amazing and the waitress needs a refresher on customer service. While the decor is very nice I don't think it's worth the money.

Nice restaurant. Noise level was good, but live music on the weekends might be noisy. We were seated promptly by a server. Ordered drinks and raw oysters as an appetizer. Cocktails were very good. When we were about half way done, our server, Maddy, came and took our entre orders. When we had finished , our table was cleared and shortly our meal came out. Good was very good and filling. The hostess came around and spoke to all the diners. She seemed friendly. Our server was very good. She asked the right questions and was able to tell us the dish preparations for a few of the specials with no problem. Left full and happy.

Very good restaurant with a great ambiance.. Carpaccio was very well presented and of high quality, greens lacked acidity i asked for a lemon wedge. Baby artichokes were incredible with complex flavor. Salmon and pork chop entrees were both a 10! First time here what a find! Can’t wait to come back. Service and hospitality were greAT!

We went with friends, total of three couples, to Castello’s. It was so disappointing. When we arrived there were plenty of open tables, I had made a reservation in advance, however they sat us in the bar area squeezed into a table for six against the window. Ok, we could deal with that but then the live music started which was right behind my seat. It was loud and hard for us to hear each other. Our server was okay but a little too intrusive. I had a grouper with risotto special and my husband had a pasta dish with shrimp and pesto. My grouper was tasteless and the risotto not cooked correctly. It should have had a creamy texture. My husband’s pesto was drowning in oil. I’ve made pesto before and oil should not be dominant like this was. Not sure how our friends felt about their meal because we couldn’t hear each other. Why would you put a group of older folks at that table? It’s ignorant and discourteous to your diners. However we did spend lots of money!!

The food was outstanding as usual. The service, however, was very slow and the waiter was not attentive in spite of the fact that it was a weeknight and the restaurant was not full. We usually dine there on Saturdays nights, when every table is full, and have never had an issue with the service. We're hoping it was just an off night since it's always been such a consistently reliable restaurant for both great food and good service.

I have had the orange ruffy several times before. It was never breaded and today it was. It did not taste good and was fishy. Our waters were not refilled. Service not as good as before.
