What an amazing transformation - always loved the pub but now on a different level. Anna and the team here are delivering a great service and brilliant food. Can’t wait to return!

The 1st 2 drinks we ask for they’d run out of & service was dreadfully slow. Place was a nice pub. Staff nice & friendly but the service was slow & not over busy.

Unfortunately we were left very disappointed following our visit to the owl this week. The first issue started when the waitress decided to seat people at their tables via the back of the queue first, which was odd given that we were the first to walk in with a cluster of people and the last to be seated - strange. Waitress came to take our order, of which she was not familiar with the menu AT ALL. First question - do you not serve a roast on bank holiday? Answer - hmm, I don’t think so. Not a problem but it yes or no? Second question - does the children’s sausage and mash come with beans? Answer - oh yes it does. Result when served - sorry no beans but we will instead drown your 5 year olds lunch in gravy without advising you first. The child despises gravy and alas the meal had to be sent back and re-made. Kids now crying and hungry whilst rest of party receive lunch. I ordered a steak sandwich, received was chopped pieces of steak on a slice of toast (?). Now call me old fashioned but a sandwich usually consists of 2 pieces of bread. Why not just state it as it is? One of our party ordered the ham egg and chip, the egg was undercooked and understandable sent back unfortunately this was sent back and not remade - but nuked in a microwave. Hmm tasty. On past trips there has been colouring and children’s drawing for their entertainment, when asking who appears to be the manager - she was none the wiser, a short no and a long blank stare as if telling me I best retreat from her radius. Before her colleague interjected and said yes! We do and 10 minutes later we receive a large box of crayons. That is all, no paper or children’s menu to doodle on. Last thing I would like to have a whinge about is the service from ALL staff. It was poor, the restaurant wasn’t even busy and it took 2 hours to have lunch in a restaurant that was 1/3 full at tops. No one seemed to care about service and at times appear to forget they were in work all together. overall dissapoin

Firstly they misplaced our drinks order, we waited 20 mins before we had to go chase them up. The starter took 30 mins to arrive. Making it an hour before the main arrived, we had to keep prompting staff to remind them we were waiting. When it arrived we had the smallest Yorkshire pudding, I know this seems a bit pathetic, but the people that had ordered before had massive yorkshires. The meat was a bit tough The staff had very little personality and the only time they rushed was to make us pay and get us out of the door… We’ve been past this place so many times and always wanted to stop in, sadly it didn’t deliver and we won’t be back. First appearances really do count.

Service was slow. Staff not very upbeat. Very quiet. No background music. Bit flat to be fair. Food nice but took ages to arrive and it wasn't busy.

Lovely surrounded - redecorated well without spoiling the charm of such an old building. New patio brilliant. Service spot in. Lots that’s good Food disappointing. Ploughman’s was very uninspiring but expensive. I’ll go back but only for a drink.

The waitress was very attentive, any questions we had, she was able to answer or found out the answer very quickly. The food was exceptional, I think it was cooked to order. I had the grilled chicken with pappardelle pasta in a white wine and Parmesan sauce, oh my goodness it was delicious! My daughter had the chicken burger and said it was the best she’d ever tasted. Husband had the steak and ale pie, again he raved about it. It’s quite a small menu, compared to others, but from our experience what they do do is of a very high standard! We will definitely be going back and telling our friends about it.

We enjoyed our visit to the Owl. We used to go a lot when we lived closer and it was good to be back. Attentive staff and a friendly welcome. The food was good though slightly lacking in choice for us personally as we don't eat meat. We definitely hope to return and it was great to be able to take our small, well-behaved dog with us, too.

Food at the Owl was exceptional. I will definitely be returning. Staff were polite, helpful and welcoming.
