Welcome to Alkemē where dining is a unique culture-to-table experience. We are honored to be a 2024 James Beard Award Best New Restaurant Semifinalist!

Our food menu is Asian heritage cuisine reimagined. Chef-Owner Hue-Chan Karels and Executive Chef Erica Tai are reinterpreting heirloom recipes from their culinary roots to create dishes that are innovative yet steeped in tradition and culture. We offer 3 tasting menus, a seasonal a la carte menu, dim sum brunch on Saturdays, and a full-liquor beverage menu with creative cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks.

Our patio is open from Spring through Fall. Our indoor dining space has 3 dining rooms & a bar:

> Dawn Dining Room is warm and inviting and can seat large parties from 6 to 14
> Indochine Room (aka "The Red Room") exudes passion and intimacy

First a prospective diner should know that the staff at Alkeme and the service was excellent. They have some VERY interesting cocktails and it's worth a visit. We did the tasting menu for two, both the meat and seafood 'forward' menus. Some items were good, others missed the mark. The theme seems to be an asian cuisine take on famous multi-cultural 'heritage' dishes (aka home style foods) but it got a little confusing at times. If I dined there again I would order a la carte from the menu and skip the tasting menu.

Food was mostly very good, however my wife had a dessert that was basically inedible. Crepes were a highlight. Cilantro was in two dishes which my wife can’t eat. After first one, she mentioned it, but it showed up in a second one. Had to be returned and remade without cilantro. Also my friend was asked if he wanted a second drink (beer) but the waitress returned way later and he had already given up on it.

We've dined at Alkeme for dinner several times and decided to try their Saturday Dim Sum Brunch and we couldn't be more pleased. We highly recommend this new offering to the Santa Fe brunch scene. We had the Bao (both pork belly and duck confit) which were superb. We then sampled the dumplings. Both variations were excellent. The chinese chive, pork and shrimp was slightly our favorite but cabbage and pork were also wonderful. Service was en pointe. It was quiet with only a few diners there, probably because of the recent snow and the fact this is a new offering. We will definitely go back!

This was our first experience with the dim sum menu. Like the dinner menu, the food food is excellent.

Our second time in and second time with the tasting menus. Just as fantastic as the first time. Our guests also enjoyed themselves thoroughly. The food and drink is creative (Negroni finished with rice!), delicious (albeit sometimes dauntingly filling which isn’t a bad thing!), and always joyful and appropriatly adventurous (for the discerning though not advanced eater). These chef isn’t out here challenging taste buds in a negative sense, and you’ll enjoy every bite, I promise.

We live in Santa Fe and know most of the restaurants. This was our first trip to Alkeme. The space is welcoming and elegant. The staff are friendly and attentive. We had the seafood tasting menu and the veggie tasting menu. The portions were just right. The food was delicious. The best part of the experience was the creativity of the food and presentation. Note that parking can be a challenge-- we got lucky with a meter on Don Gaspar.

Celebrated our anniversary at our favorite restaurant in Santa Fe. Chef Hue-Chan and Chef Erica hit it out of the ballpark! I did the tasting menu that was seafood/fish and Gordon did the meat forward tasting menu. Everything was paired with sake that was delicious. There was not a single item we did not love. Hue-Chan is the consummate host, checking in on the courses, and takes the time to explain the origin of the food. Definitely better than any Asian food we have had in NYC, Chicago, San Francisco, or LA. ❤️❤️❤️
