Signature Dish: Experience our iconic Beef Negimayaki, a dish that originated right here at Nippon and has since become a global favorite. Delight in our Tempura straight from the tempura bar, a standout feature of our menu. Always a pleasure to dine at Nippon. The staff is so friendly. They know what table you want, and what you like to eat and drink. It is fun to host a group in a tatami room for a get-together: family, friends, birthdays. We have been going there for years.

Bad and expensive sushi, other food was also expensive and small portions, I will not be back.

Sitting in my out-of-the-way corner of this quiet, traditional Japanese restaurant, I might as well have been dining in a small spot in a local Tokyo neighborhood. Cosseted by the attention of the long-term staff who knows me well, I had a simple, genuine Japanese lunch-a bowl of soba noodles made from wheat from the restaurant’s Canadian farm, a spot of tempura and a constantly refilled cup of green tea. What more can one ask for? I’ve only been coming here since 1972. It’s my go to spot, and it won’t be long until I’m sitting there again .

Fabulous authentic Japanese cuisine. The buckwheat noodles are outstanding, made from buckwheat fields owned by the owner. All of the dishes are authentic and delicious.

A Slice of Japan in the Heart of NYC: Restaurant Nippon Restaurant Nippon has been a fixture in New York for over 60 years, now likely in the capable hands of its third generation of owners. This sense of tradition is palpable from the moment you step inside. The atmosphere is refreshingly authentic—neither overly commercial nor catering to tourists. The entire setting transports you straight into the heart of a small Japanese town, with every detail reflecting the owner's dedication and love for the business. Nothing feels rushed, and everything is done with care. We had the pleasure of trying the 寿喜烧 (sukiyaki), which exceeded all expectations in both flavor and presentation. Another standout was the home-made tofu—an absolute must-try for anyone visiting. The udon noodles were also exceptional, with a texture and flavor that left us wanting more. The staff at Restaurant Nippon is equally as impressive. Their warmth and attentiveness create a welcoming environment, and you can feel a genuine emotional connection to the restaurant. It’s clear that this is more than just a job to them—it’s part of their story. We will definitely be visiting again soon. Delicious, authentic Japanese food. Great service. The food is delicious and high quality. The noodles are incredible, and their salad is so unique and excellent. My daughter liked the fried chicken appetizer so much and got a second order for dessert!
