The good: The outdoor dining area is absolutely spectacular. If you choose to go, go on a nice summer day/night and make a reservation for outside dining. The service was very good. Our server, we didn't get his name, but he is from Ecuador and extremely friendly and attentive... but the good sort of ends here. We shared a cheese plate, which was decent, and considered the trio of spreads of hummus, garlic yogurt and eggplant caponata, but at $31.00 (?) we passed. We also had the herb butter escargots w/ puff pastries. Highly disappointed as they were completely tasteless and the pastries stale. For mains, I had the halibut and my husband seared scallops. We also ordered sides of haricots vert and hand cut potato wedges. My husband's scallops were meh, a bit overcooked and on the salty side. My halibut was extremely dry and tough because it was overcooked into oblivion, but the accompaniments were tasty. The potato wedges were bang on, but the haricots vert were swimming in oil, and so, no. We also had dessert, deconstructed lemon, pie and chocolate tart, which were good, but not, respectively, $15 and $18 USD good. We also had a pre-dinner drink and a glass of wine each, for a total of $340.00. Beautiful restaurant and setting, but it was not enough to distract from below average food. Perhaps just an off night...

I was disappointed with Rats' Tuesday summer special Lobster and Clam Bake. Despite the high price, the food was cold and drawn butter would have made it better. However, the main menu is always outstanding. As usual, the service was excellent, as all staff at Rats are friendly, attentive, and helpful. The ambiance is unique and lovely, and their signature popovers are a standard.

Beautiful restaurant with great service. Miranda was attentive and responded to our questions. Sat outside by the pond. Took advantage of the Clam Bake special which had two large pieces of lobster, clams, mussels, and shrimp with potatoes and corn on the cob. Rats was able to accommodate special clam back without shrimp due to allergy. Always a great experience!

Rats has been a favorite of ours for years. The unmatched combination of food, service and especially the ambiance. Tuesdays in the Summer are our favorite because they have their clam bake. Such a treat! The menu is fantastic and you can't leave without having their homemade ice cream for dessert. The cherry on top is their fresh popovers! So amazing!

The salads were tasty but small portions relatively to offerings at comparable restaurants. Charging $17 for dessert was outrageous. I will not be dining here again.

Drinks were yummy as was the food. Our waiter took his time explaining things and provided excellent service. Sat outside so atmosphere and scenery helped make it a wonderful experience

Ambience cannot be beaten. Service can be inconsistent. We had the brie as an appetizer, Halibut and ribs as entrées, all delicious.

Although the food was excellent and our server was pleasant it took a very long time to receive our order. I was not expecting to spend 2 hours at lunch. We sat for quite a long time just waiting for our food.

We had a celebration (my daughters birthday) it was amazing our server Andrew was an amazing! we will definatelly go back again!
