Le Rathskeller Restaurant propose une ambiance bavaroise dans le centre-ville d'Indianapolis. Installé dans le cœur historique, dans le bâtiment Athenaeum datant du XIXe siècle, le Rathskeller rappelle à la fois une auberge pittoresque nichée dans les collines bavaroises et une brasserie animée de Munich. Animation
May-October we have live music in our outdoor Biergarten Thursday-Saturday nights. It is 21+ area and does allow smoking. November-April we have live music inside in our ballroom and it is all ages unless otherwise specified. There is no smoking inside. Bands range from local cover bands to national rock and country.

The main reason for my review is that someone ‘posed’ as me and took our reservation and were seated in the beautiful dining area. When we arrived, 20 minutes before our Open Table reservation time, they had no reservation for our party of 3. With further digging, Rathskeller said the guilty party must’ve looked at the hostess stand and chose my name and took our reservation ! At first, they said there were no open seats available for us. After several minutes, at our insistence of making this right, they found us a table in a busy, loud corridor.

Waitress was excellent and got our order quickly placed to help us make our show at 7pm. Food is great. Only minor issue was a beer was forgotten for a few minutes but waitress grabbed it quickly when we reminded her.

Food was outstanding as always Service was iffy. Took a while to get our table together far past our reservation time they did forget one of our appetizers and it seemed the server was either very slow or overwhelmed with tables. It was a Saturday night. They were very busy so I do understand. We will definitely be back as it is one of our favorite places in Indianapolis.

LOVE the sauerbraten! Our server was great. Was very busy this eve but server (didn't catch her name but my husband said he thoight Patrice?). She was very efficient and was able to provide a different side for my husband who can't eat salad and has some food issues and couldn't eat the soup choices. This is special place for us. We met here❤️

We ate here on a busy Saturday evening in December and the restaurant was hopping. We had a reservation for 4:45 PM but were unsure if we could get in to eat and out in time to make the Yuletide Show. Not only was the restaurant packed with a waiting line but they were also short-staffed... even worse! Have no fear, Rathskeller while short-staffed, did a wonderful job. We had a fantastic waitress who asked if we were going to a show after dinner. She told us she would have us out in time and she stuck to her word. We were at the show with time to spare. I highly recommend Rathskellar if you have a small or large party holiday, or no holiday. They seem to be prepared for everything.

Best part of our dining experience was our waitress. She did a fabulous job. She was prompt and very personable. Our food arrived quickly. The worst and most disappointing part of our experience was the food. I ordered the ribeye steak, medium-well done. This is a $49 meal. The steak that arrived was over cooked and tough. If a restaurant is going to charge someone $49 for a steak they should know how to properly prepare the steak. By far the worst prepared ribeye steak I have ever eaten. The sides were okay, their presentation is lousy. The kitchen appears to be indifferent to preparing and presenting a good meal. Especially for the $90 price tag for two people to eat. They charge exorbitantly high prices for disappointingly low quality food.

Very good pork & beef options with delicious salads/sides. Rewarding desserts of bread pudding and sacher torte. Friendly service. Good Sunday family dinner.

The food and atmosphere was what I was hoping for as a first time guest. You definitely need reservations. I had the roladan and spaetzle and my daughter had the most amazing mashed sweet potatoes as her side. It was a charming historical set up, I love the cozy, crowded atmosphere. Drink selection was nice and had a Riesling. I can’t wait to come back!
