Our first time here for my husband's birthday. We did steak and sushi, food was very good! Ambiance was wonderful in the sun room surrounded by beautiful plants. The general manager was so personable and attentive he must have stopped by our table three times to chat and see how our experience was. That makes the night memorable for sure. Looking forward to going back.

We had a 630 reservation. Were seated right away but after 25 minutes hadn’t received menus. We had to get the attention of what looked like to be a manager. He took our drink order and gave us menus. I asked for a drink not on the menu and he brought it. It was way too strong but he never came back to check. It would have been fine if they had acknowledged us telling that they were short handed. But that never happened. It is understandable. It would have been appreciated for them to give us our drinks on the house. The rest of the meal was ok for the most part. They were out of filet mignon which seemed odd for this type of upper scale restaurant. I never received the decaf tea I ordered. For over $400 for 4 people and this wasn’t our first time there we expected much much more of a pleasurable experience. We were out for my birthday and I regretted switching to here a few hours before because we has such a great birthday dinner last year. Very disappointing to say the least.

Food and service were both equally outstanding. It was a bit loud because there was a wedding outside and the guests kept opening and closing the door to get into the restaurant, but at least the music was very good!! We will definitely return.

We frequently dine at Scotto Restaurants. Last evening our experience was different than our typical. Dining in the solarium there were two tables, on either side of our own, that were inappropriately loud. Upon the arrival Of our entree’s we asked to be relocated. Our server apologized and said that another table had already been relocated. Dining in a restaurant of this price and suggested quality is more than just the food. We were there to dine, not just eat. Part of what you pay for in a restaurant like this is the ambiance. While I recognize that a birthday or other celebration might become more noisy, as it was with one of the two tables, sustained high volume, to the detriment of other diners is inappropriate. I do not expect Tony Soprano to enter and demand that patrons remove their hats, however a comment from the manager would have been appropriate to demonstrate a standard held by the restaurant. The manager WAS around, but did nothing. The dress at these tables— graphic tees and tank tops, worn jeans and shorts, sneakers should have betrayed a lack of respect for fine dining. Perhaps seating such groups in a specific room should be contemplated if intervention is not a consideration. I would never anticipate such raucous behavior at Union Square Cafe. Danny Meyer also founded Shake Shack where it might be acceptable. I am not sure where between those two Rare 650 is placing itself after last evening’s experience.

Rare 650 never disappoints. Food, ambiance and service are top notch. We visited on a Saturday evening and dined in the area known as the conservatory. Beautifully decorated with the feel of the outdoors, complete with plants and a glass ceiling. The wait staff work in pairs and are polite, friendly & attentive. Steve was our main waiter and he answered all our questions with ease. Included in this review are photos of our appetizers, entrees and dessert. All beautifully presented and delicious. With so many creative items on the menu, it was difficult to choose just a few. Rare 650 is one of our favorite restaurants and we definitely look forward to our next visit. Do not hesitate to make a reservation and enjoy a wonderful dining experience!

Lobster bisque-delish Filet mignon on bone- yum Rare 650 salad- winner Creamed spinach - great Corn- must have Mashed potatoes- like momma used to make Loaded baked potato- sinfully good Service - perfecto! Wine was great too! No room for dessert this time but the donuts on the other table looked heavenly

Lamb chops apps were probably the best I’ve ever ate. Drinks a s service A+. Steak was cooked perfect but don’t like the charred cook. Overall very good experience!
