Understaffed for the Valentine's Day dinner crowd. Drinks and food were good, but service was poor. Our server was extremely busy because of understaffing and couldn't be attentive. He also messed up our bill (added an item we didn't order that wasn't on the first check presented to us) and even messed up the corrected bill (didn't apply the full amount of our gift card and now we're not sure that the balance is going to show when we present it next time). Usually a noisy atmosphere, but extremely noisy this time with music playing that was even more distracting and should have been turned off completely. Not a good experience at all.

Service was great The food selection is Tex mex mixture of Mexican food Steaks seafood and salads The place is great high ceilings good decor Surrounded by large open bar area Tables plus bar pub table seating Had the Snapper fish and ahi salad gringo tacos So a mix portion were good not small or oversized Not too hot or spicy Seasoned flavorful but not over done . The service was great . Also checking on our larger group of 10

We reserved patio seating, but we were seated inside. The patio area was closed to a private function.

We go here often. It must have been a bad night. We ordered cornbread and the dough wasn’t cooked so sent back to kitchen for a different one which was fine. Service was slow and for not being busy it still took a bit to get drinks. Bartender and server are familiar with us but it just must have been an off night.

We enjoyed our visit to Z Tejas mainly because of our excellent Server, who is friendly and helpful. For booking our table, we got a free appetizer, which was much appreciated. Our food was excellent, margaritas excellent. I only gave it four stars because I was disappointed in the cornbread delivery. It used to be a large pan now it’s little tiny individuals that have about two bites to them. I love my cornbread and want more! They did bring out extra one asked, but that is an afterthought. Otherwise, I highly recommend this location in Scottsdale.

I’ve long been a fan of the food at Z’Tejas - I used to go to their Tempe location near ASU and the one in the mall at Scottsdale. Some things that are good that have remained good: the food! Their shrimp tostada bites (app) is beyond delish! The bite-sized tortilla chip they are on is light and crisp and it’s served with guacamole, aioli and a seasoned, grilled shrimp. Serving was 8, now you get 5 for $14. Definitely Yum! The mushroom enchiladas were delish as well as the ancho chili fudge pie! Words can’t describe how yummy it is!! Things that have changed- service. Our server was nice enough but didn’t offer us the complimentary cornbread that comes at the start. After our dessert he mentioned it. He only checked back once, didn’t give refills (asked someone else) and he told us the seasonal veggies were squash - but we received Brussel sprouts (yuck!). Paul the manager did comp us the dessert (at my suggestion) which we appreciated. It used to be served with a generous dollop of handmade whipped cream. It was also cold in the restaurant. I would still give it a shot again & hope for better service.
