Here at Zafferano, we like to keep things a little old school, from sourcing to serving, our key values remain.
Simone, the Head Chef and co-owner of Zafferano grew up inside the kitchen of his family's restaurant in Porticello, Sicily and brings that passion and authenticity to his food.
We combine local, fresh, seasonal ingredients with passion and tradition, to create a menu that is endlessly devoted to flavour and quality. We have a love for food, for the whole experience. We believe in celebrating just how powerful food can be, from the seed to the plate. Because connection through food is our mission.
Our space is intimate with only 38 seats and the overall vibe of the restaurant really transports you to Sicily with an outdoor courtyard that feels like a traditional Italian piazza.
We have a few signature dishes however the Risotto Marinara & Spaghetti Marinara are definitely at the for front of our menu.

We had a lovely night dining alfresco with a lovely choice of pasta and salads with a lovely waitress. Highly recommend.

An owner operated taste of Sicily, this intimate neighbourhood Trattoria is an absolute gem. Consistently great food, friendly service and relaxed atmosphere.

what can i say From the time we entered the restaurant we were greatly warming and like entering someone’s home We were engaged by the conversation and getting an understanding of sicily whilst we also listened to the specials We left the resting up to the restaurant We were a party of four..terrific and affordable Sicilian wine was recommended We had anti pasta and a really amazing eggplant dish for main we had a risotto a pasta and some great lamb chops Following by Tiramasu and Cannoli and some great Amari all up a wonderful night enabled by great food and hospitality We all remarked how refreshing to go to a restaurant in the eastern suburbs which was not corporate owned and felt like you had to get moved on in under two hours

Thoroughly enjoyed the evening - it was exactly as advertised: legitimate Sicialian! Must have the panelle and the cannoli for desert!

The food was absolutely incredible! We had a table of four and we ordered two entrees, 3 mains and a salad. We were all very hungry but this was more than enough food. The portions are decent. I’m not usually a huge risotto fan but the porcini and pork cheek risotto was one of the most amazing dishes I’ve ever had. Highly recommend it. We’ll definitely be going back!
