Located at Yosemite Valley Lodge, the Mountain Room Restaurant boasts striking views of the 2,424 foot high Yosemite Falls. The menu is equally impressive, featuring sizzling steaks and fresh seafood. The chef’s specialties include local, organic & seasonal preparations including sustainable fish and seafood in accordance with the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch List. The Mountain Room Restaurant is open year-round.

Food and service was very good. The other food options at the Yosemite Valley Lodge are extremely limited and the quality mediocre at the Base Camp Eatery. We opted to pay the premium at the Mountain Room for two of our four dinners during our most recent stay.

Had a reservation at 8pm. Waters were dropped relatively quick. Wasn’t greeted by anyone until 8:30pm and the server only said they would get to us in a moment. We ended up leaving and going across the way to the Mountain room Lounge. This was a much more relaxed environment with an amazing firewood fire in the middle. Food was great for the price and overall the better move for the night.

We went for 2 consecutive nights since we’re staying in the park and weren’t pleased with the Ahwahnee on night one. As usual, dining in the Mountain Room begins with a slow start. I’ve eaten here 6-7 times in the last 5 years, always with a reservation, and I have never been seated near my arrival/reservation time. I have always had to wait at least 15 minutes for some reason. Then when seated, it takes a lot of time for any waiter to acknowledge us. This time it took 20 minutes after waiting 15 minutes to be seated. We got our appetizer around 45 minutes after arriving and our drinks 5-10 minutes after that. Otherwise, we had a fine meal with good waiter attention. The food is overpriced, but it’s way out in the woods, after all. I’m grateful for such a beautiful room and good food. I’ll be back.

In my recent visit, I found that the food was undercooked, which was disappointing. I appreciate the effort, but a bit more attention to cooking time would really improve the experience.

Our server, I think her name was Patrice, and her assistant were terrific. I was a little worried about food quality after seeing some of the mixed reviews. The dinner was outstanding from start to finish! Bread-great; appetizer (burrata) -terrific; main dishes (mushroom pasta (could have used just a bit more seasoning) for me, and soup and salad for my wife which she really enjoyed; cheesecake for dessert- also very good. A bit pricey, but it's a tourist area, so not too bad or unexpected.
