I had a lunch special at $27: tempura and sashimi set. It was good: fish was bouncy and the tempura was crisp. Service is excellent. But Tax and tip made lunch close to $35-37. Im having such a hard time justifying paying this much for lunch. But I do understand prices have truly gone up everywhere. Food/service/rent has gone up…but it’s too expensive for me to eat.

Our visit to Yohei Sushi started with a glitch. We received a gift card for the restaurant and made a reservation for 4 people not realizing that the establishment had two locations: one on Dillingham Blvd and the other near the Kahala Mall on Waialae Ave. It took a while for the staff at Waialae Ave to figure out what had happened as they could not find the reservation in the other place which had been confirmed by OpenTable. We were seated eventually and all went smoothly once we were seated. Apparently, this error happens quite often. We had a marvelous time eating at Yohei Sushi near the Kahala Mall. The decor is elegant and artistically appointed with a strong Japanese aesthetic. The food was excellent and nicely presented. Especially the tempura was outstanding. The service was very friendly. A major advantage of this establishment is the fact that it is quiet and our conversations were not disturbed by loud background noise. The only minor criticism was that the fact that one dish was given to the wrong person and the person who had ordered it was told that they no longer had another order as they ran out of the sauce. However, we considered this a minor problem. We did not have a desert as the list of items on the menu was very small and not very interesting. The restaurant also has a separate Sushi bar which we did not experience. We shall return and strongly recommend a visit to this elegant Japanese restaurant with outstanding dishes and friendly atmosphere.

This is our go to place for authentic Japanese cuisine in Hawaii. There are other good Japanese restaurants on island but Yohei Sushi has been THE Japanese restaurant for us for the past 15+ years. When our Japanese friends and relatives are visiting, we bring them to Yohei Sushi. It’s been known to bring tears of joy to some who are missing home!

I’m glad you can make reservations thru Open Table that’s great. Went to celebrate hubbys birthday and food was amazing as always. Hubby got ice cream for free for his birthday.

Excellent Japanese food, great service, and pretty good value for what you get. Make reservations since the location is not large.

The menu has changed since the last time I was there. (Like the old menu) Prices have increased which hasn't every place. Service and food still GOOD! I will bring my friend from India here, he wanted to try Japanese food unfortunately he had to return for an emergency.

Wow! Great service & the sashimi was so fresh! The freshest and sweetest uni (sea urchin) we have ever tasted. Sushi almost as delicious and on par with what we ate in Japan at Tsukiji. Nice selection of sake to go with as well. As expected, we are very impressed with the new owners of Yohei - a Japan-based company. We will definitely dine again soon!
