Tacoma’s newest waterfront restaurant, Woven Seafood & Chophouse, is a Roy Yamaguchi concept owned by The Puyallup Tribe of Indians. Woven celebrates a rich fusion of culinary traditions, honoring Yamaguchi’s Japanese heritage and pioneering Hawaii regional cuisine, along with the traditions of the Puyallup Tribe and the bounty of the Pacific Northwest.

It was a thrill to meet Chef Roy and experience the amazing Prix Fixe menu designed. Finally got to see the upstairs banquet facility which is gorgeous. Don't miss experiencing this spot and supporting the Puyallup Tribe.

I'm delighted to report that Woven is really getting their act together and are becoming an excellent special occasion dining experience! My wife and I dined at Woven with another couple in July 2024, shortly after they opened. Our experience was quite "mixed" and although people were friendly, multiple significant mistakes were made including my main course NEVER reaching our table. They were clearly suffering from multiple startup issues, but the food we were served was really great as were the drinks. I decided to write an honest review where I stated the issues we encountered but gave them the benefit of the doubt because they had not been open for very long and the food we were served was great. I was then surprised (and impressed) to be contacted by Ryan, the restaurant's general manager who apologized for the issues, admitted to working through start up issues. He asked us to give them another chance. We did so last night and had a totally different and positive experience! We split a sushi starter (excellent) and my wife had their sea bass as her main entry. I decided to go with Roy Yamaguchi's evening special menu. Wendy thought the sea bass was best she's ever had, and my "special menu" was unique and flavorful. Roy was there and stopped by to say hello and chat briefly with us and other tables around us. Desserts need to be ordered well in advance as they are cooked to order - they were excellent! If you're looking for a new upscale dining experience, I can now confidently suggest you try Woven in Tacoma. Hopefully your experience will be as positive as our second time. We will definitely be heading back!

We were lucky to have Chef Roy in the house the night we went. That alone may the experience memorable! He told us how he wants to get the puyallup Tribe children involved and have them learn about the restaurant business. Also, how he is very interested in the melding of the Hawaiian and puyallup tribe cultures - hence, the name “Woven”. Wishing him much success!!

We had visitors from Hawaii so thought we’d try the new Roy Yamaguchi / Puyallup Indian Tribe restaurant Woven. Fabulous! Roy’s menu is a wonderful PNW/Asian/Hawaiian fusion. We had the Hawaiian short-rib loco moco, Vietnamese fried oyster báhn mi, seafood salad with Dungeness crab-huge prawns-hard boiled egg-wedge lettuce-bacon, and Philippine lumpia. A definite star in the NW dining scene. And….prices very reasonable with large portions (unlike Hawaii Roy’s) Hana hou!

We had a great experience at Woven! The staff was fabulous, ambiance lovely, food was great, and we got to meet Roy Yamaguchi who willingly posed in a picture with us! What a fun experience. It was a birthday celebration and they made that extra special with a birthday appetizer and delicious dessert. Very memorable!

Looks great , not the warmest welcome, great seating, service was good , but very very slow, but they told you that, we ordered osters by the time we received them the ice had melted and osters were almost completely in the water, the dinner short rib was excellent but you have to be patient , no military discount only trible discount if you go there get there at 5 for dinner and order everything at once I suggest…..

I will say the food is what you would expect from any of the Roy’s establishments. Seafood and sushi was very good. Service was slow especially with drinks - we ordered glasses of wine and two basic cocktails. One dish was late and they did comp it for us which we appreciated. We were disappointed with the slow service but most of all, charging us $5 for olives in a martini (yes, regular old olives). I’d have to have a pretty big craving for sushi to return.

This is an excellent new alternative to the old stand bys on Tacomas waterfront. Lovely setting, and perfectly executed food. Service was attentive and super friendly.
