Tacoma’s newest waterfront restaurant, Woven Seafood & Chophouse, is a Roy Yamaguchi concept owned by The Puyallup Tribe of Indians. Woven celebrates a rich fusion of culinary traditions, honoring Yamaguchi’s Japanese heritage and pioneering Hawaii regional cuisine, along with the traditions of the Puyallup Tribe and the bounty of the Pacific Northwest.

This was my first visit to Woven and went for brunch. Heather was our server and was wonderful at greeting us and pointing out a few recommendations. The updates to the former Shenanigans are wonderful, I love all the light and bright the remodel has added to the space. While there were several options to select from, I went with the goat cheese and portobello press. Sadly I think this falls short of what I was expecting. It's $23, more than the seafood omelet and looks like you could get it at a local diner. I'll be back to try dinner as others have raved. Also, we were left with empty water glasses, it would have been nice to be given a carafe so we were not left thirsty.

Our group cannot stop raving about the wonderful evening we had. The service from our waitress Patience and attention from the manager Zach went above and beyond. We were there celebrating an anniversary for our kids along with the inlaws and they made sure to make it extra memorable for our group. We tried several appetizers based on our servers recommendations and she explained the entrees perfectly. We were all pleased with orders. The black cod was delicious, lamb was superb and the short ribs were so tender and delicious! We also had 2 desserts, sweet potato brulee and lava cake…DELICIOUS!! We left happy and full. And can’t wait to go back! Thank you!

So disappointed with our experience at Woven. Although our primary server, Amber, made a valiant effort, the overall service was poor. It took so long to get our wine that we were almost finished with our meals when it arrived; we ordered dessert to share and asked the person who brought it to bring us sharing plates — he never did, just ignored us. Dirty plates and empty cocktail glasses sat on the table too long. The food was also disappointing— sushi rolls were good but the fish in the entrees was nearly tasteless. The decor and view are lovely but we will not go back.

Positives: Great atmosphere walking in, great pricing. Food was some of the best. Super service from the front desk and the waitress. Negatives: Seating was not the greatest. Having to sit and eat directly next to someone is not the greatest of choices. Also, wanted the lava cake and we were told it takes 25 minutes to make. I'm sure it would have been the best lava cake ever, but 25 minutes was not happening for us.

Very good start at this new restaurant! The food was pretty good! Drinks were tasty too and waitress was very attentive! The only complaint was the chicken was a little dry which makes me think it was heated up, not cooked from fresh. Next time I’ll go with a steak because that is more likely to be cooked to order from fresh. It would also be nice to see a little more artwork and color around the restaurant.

Service was stellar starting upon entrance through departure. Food was amazing in flavor and presentation. Larger portions than we were expecting. Views were amazing and showcased the beauty and gem in Tacoma! Great place to celebrate a special event or just enjoy a lovely evening out.

Zach W was awesome super friendly even complemented me on my shirt food was AMAZING Smoked salmon dip appetizer is a MUST GET if you do get dessert Don’t get the chocolate lava cake unless you want to wait half an hour. Woven is a great place for a date night with your partner!

Overall impression: nice, clean space with lots of light and wonderful views of Commencement Bay. Nice outside deck for good weather. Focus here is on the blend of PNW and Pacific Rim cuisines. We tried a variety of shareables and found everything to be well prepared and a treat to our tastebuds.
