Loved the experience, everything was top notch! However when we were asked about sparkling cider instead of champagne we didnt think it would cost $16.00. This should be mentioned upfront as we would have just had the tea.

It was the best tasting food at a tea room that I’ve had!

The Willard has an elegant, old school vibe that can’t be denied. The scones and fingers sandwiched were good. The desserts were fine, but not exceptional. The portions were not generous. To charge extra for champagne was perfectly understandable, but to charge extra for flutes of sparkling (non-alcoholic) cider seemed a bit precious. Service was good, but the experience was marred by the heavy foreign accents of the male sandwich servers. Additionally, they were so nervous that they flew through the sandwich and scone descriptions. This is a matter of training; there was nothing gracious or old school about the service. The overall experience was perhaps enhanced by live harp music, although we were grateful to be in a side room, where we could close the doors after service, so that we could hear each other speak. Is it fun to go once? Yes. Would I invite my friends again? No. The perceived value did not match the actual price per person.

While the afternoon tea was pricey ($90 per person) the quality and overall experience was well worth it. Our waiter was incredibly personable and informative.

My daughter and I had afternoon tea at the Willard. It was elegant and fun. Our server was very good and made sure that we had everything that we needed. The desserts were lovely and the scones were amazing - we were not as fond of the savories, but they were well prepared and fun to try. The table, chairs and table settings were excellent. The only complaint is that we were seated in their "alley" which is hallway, so there was some traffic while we had tea. They had someone playing the harp which was a nice addition to our afternoon. Be aware that tea is expensive - with tip, we spent more than $100 per person. If you order anything in addition to tea, there is an extra charge. We were aware of the cost so it was not a surprise for us. We had a very nice time and will probably return.

We had a lovely experience at the “High Tea” event. The service was exceptional and the venue was very classy. We went because our granddaughter was visiting and loves formal tea events and she was very impressed. While in most categories, I gave the visit the highest possible ratings, my only less than perfect ratings were because (1) the price seems excessively high (over $380.00 for three people), (2) as a non tea drinker, I would have like to try more than the limit of only one tea selection, (3) my bride had a glass of champagne when it was offered and my under age grand daughter had apple cider and both were an extra charge but no one said so, and (4) we would have enjoyed having some choice in the savory and sweet accompaniments rather than the standard fixed menu. Despite these caveats, I would recommend this visit to others as long as they are aware in advance of the points I’ve highlighted.

I was extremely impressed with our waiter, Deepek. He was very kind and helpful with answering questions I had. It was our party first experience in the Willard Tea Room. With his kindness, it was a very pleasant experience.

This is the best place to go for tea in the city, in my opinion! Yes, it’s expensive but you definitely get what you pay for: EXCELLENT service (prompt delivery of cold champagne to start with, prompt delivery of hot tea and the tea cakes, scones, desserts, etc., several hot water refills in our tea pots, ice water refills in our glasses, and general attentiveness and friendliness), delicious hot tea with many choices, and delicious food!! The tea room and Peacock Alley are lovely spots for afternoon tea, with beautiful decor and a harp player!! I HIGHLY recommend The Willard for tea! And we will be back! :)
