At the heart of the vibrant Tucson gastronomic scene is a quaint, family owned restaurant that has made a name for itself by combining the classical French education of Executive Chef Steven Schultz with the flavors of traditional southwest cuisine. Driven by the vision of casual fine dining that he shares with wife and Maudi Gourdin, the pair have managed to make The Wild Garlic Grill one of Tucson’s premiere destinations for food lovers from all walks of life. That all too familiar aroma of garlic will titillate your senses from the moment you step through the front door, followed instantly by the pageantry of Chef and his crew hard at work in the open kitchen where you can watch your meal as it is prepared.     The “hostess” was on her phone when we walked in at 5:30, and continued to stay on her phone as I stared at her as we waited. She said her mgr was in the back. Then she said everyone wants to make New Year’s Eve reservations. Extremely unprofessional . And very uncomfortable.

    We were seated outside with the heater on and the weather was perfect. Jack our waiter was very good and personable. Everyone was pleased with their entree and entire evening.

    We had an outstanding dinner at Wild Garlic Grill. Everything we ordered tasted incredible and the service was good too. Apps: chicken asparagus soup and garlic fries Entrees: rack of lamb with scallops and mashed potatoes; filet with potatoes au gratin

    the food is usually very good and Christmas Eve it was good but not exceptional. Our server was very rushed and left our table before we were done ordering., Plate was so hot it burnt my finger. It was not our best experience there.

    Best steak I’ve ever had. It was Wagyu and it was $95 but it was worth it. We went on Xmas Eve and it was very, very busy. Even still, our plates were beautiful and the food was perfectly cooked. Our waiter Cole was on point and old school. It was stellar. The only negative was the noise - a few noise reduction panels might help.

    Our server was fantastic- very attentive but did not rush us. We all ordered different apps, salads and entrees and the food was excellent. Limoncello cake and New York cheesecake were outstanding. Fresh, tasty and beautifully plated with a dollop of cream and berries. My only suggestion would be regarding the soft shell crab appetizer - there is but one crab atop a lot of delicious greens, seaweed, corn relish etc. ..this is the 4th time I’ve had this dish and it has always has a large bed of Asian tasting goodies but I seem to remember more crabs or a larger crab - this time the single small crab was really ‘lost’. So, I’d prefer more crab and less greens. Despite that, a thoroughly enjoyable dining experience.

    I have had less than ideal visits in the past. However, this visit was excellent. Noise level was down, service was friendly and professional, and the food was magnificent. Based on this visit we will be going back.
