The White Lion Hankelow, a beautiful Cheshire country pub filled with generous stocks of Cheshire craft ales, a tip top wine menu and a cocktail list featuring classics and seasonally inspired creations.

When it comes to food we only use the best local and seasonal produce, our menu showcases our
chef’s passion for refined and elegant pub classics mixed with contemporary flavours and techniques.

With a mixture of seating inside ranging from intimate nooks, to warm and cosey snugs by the fire and stunning private dining rooms, to an expansive outside space perfect for catching the sun with an ice cold drink.

In our party of 8, 3 of us had cod loin. The cod was lovely but the samphire was impossible to eat as it was hard and stringy. I had 2 big bones in my cod. The 3 sticky toffee puddings were lovely but 3 of them had only a scrape of banana ice cream rather than a soup. The service was excellent and ambience was good. There is a lovely feeling of comfort and we felt looked after by the staff. We will go there again but won't be having the cod loin. 2 people said there was too much lettuce in their crispy salads. Overall we all enjoyed our evening but the meal did let it down.

A number of items on the menu were not available. Only advised that a meal one of the party had ordered was not available after about 25 minutes after order placed. Ordered a round of drinks of one of the real ales to be told that this had also gone off. My meal (steak) was very average. Shame because the actual pub itself was lovely and the waitress very polite and friendly. Think she was embarrassed because so many items were unavailable. May try it again in the future and hope that this was a one off, but won't be hurrying back.

Very nice lunch, varied menu, friendly service despite there only being one member of staff for most of our visit. Lovely venue.

Order taking and service were slow, we waited 45 minutes from arriving to receiving our Sunday roasts, which were flavoursome enough but unspectacular, and could have done with larger plates to aid presentation. This was a second visit, the first left some doubts, this visit confirmed those. Staff were friendly enough but the meal was uninspiring.

Nice decor and good ambience. Not particularly busy so easy to find table. However the staff were unhelpful for example not telling us that items on the menu that we wanted were not available until we came to order! It took 15 mins for drinks order to be taken and then sometime before food order taken. It took a long time for starters to arrive and when they did the calamari was cold rubbery and definitely not crispy. Sent back as inedible. It was another hour and our main courses had still not arrived so we decided to leave! The staff seemed to accept this as if it were normal and comments seemed to imply that our food had not even been started!!! Will not be returning or recommending

Very fine roast. We opted for the sharer - perfectly cooked meats and the carrots were the best I've ever had with a Sunday lunch Brownie and pannacotta desserts were both delicious. Service was lovely!
