The White Lion Hankelow, a beautiful Cheshire country pub filled with generous stocks of Cheshire craft ales, a tip top wine menu and a cocktail list featuring classics and seasonally inspired creations.

When it comes to food we only use the best local and seasonal produce, our menu showcases our
chef’s passion for refined and elegant pub classics mixed with contemporary flavours and techniques.

With a mixture of seating inside ranging from intimate nooks, to warm and cosey snugs by the fire and stunning private dining rooms, to an expansive outside space perfect for catching the sun with an ice cold drink.

Very fine roast. We opted for the sharer - perfectly cooked meats and the carrots were the best I've ever had with a Sunday lunch Brownie and pannacotta desserts were both delicious. Service was lovely!

Food quick to the table after ordering and it was also hot on arrival which doesn’t happen very often in pubs

We went ealry Friday evening service was really good from start to finish and the place is lovely. However the food was a long way from what you would expect at a place such as this. I know when it first reopened the food was absolutely amazing just seems to have lost its way which is a massive shame for a place with such potential

Dear Olivia, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review with us. So sorry to hear you were not satisfied with the food but delighted the service and ambience was to your liking. We did indeed open with a different style of food - more fine dining but unfortunately it did not appeal to the wider audience, largely due to price point and location. That said we do pride ourselves in the quality of our food as a top end pub food offering so apologies your experience did not provide this. I will pass on the feedback to our Head Chef and we hope you may return again and you can experience our usual level of dining experience. Regards Sian

What a treat! Fab service, delicious food, great portions, and the live music on a Sunday afternoon was a bonus! We will definitely be back!

Really lovely country pub with great food and very reasonably priced drinks. Just a shame it was so quiet on a Saturday afternoon.

Sunday lunch was basically stone cold, meats were very poor quality - lamb inedible. Terrible veg selection - only green beans and a small pot of red cabbage. Starters were fairly nice. Extremely slow service - had to go to the bar to order multiple times. They took our main courses off the bill which was the right thing to do in my opinion and was appreciated.

Thank you for your feedback and firstly huge apologies that you did not enjoy your visit with us. This is certainly not our usual standard as you will see from most of our reviews. We were sadly down a number of staff (including a chef) on, what turned out to be the busiest Sunday of the year for us! This dos not excuse your experience but in some way may explain it. I am pleased we did not charge you for your main meals and thank you for recognising this in your review.
