We reserved a table for 2 people at The White Hart for 8pm on Friday 14th June 2024. The booking was confirmed by email, and we also received a text message asking to confirm the booking which was done. On arrival at the White Hart we told a member of staff behind the bar that we had a table reservation for 8pm. He disappeared and when he came back dropped the bomb shell that they were no longer serving meals and the kitchen was closed. From where we were stood, we witnessed several tables where people were eating and a 70th birthday celebration. We did feel that it was a last-minute decision to close the kitchen as coincidently it was first night of Euro 2024 which was also been shown in the pub. There was very little in a form of apology, complimentary drink or offer of where we might seek an alternative meal on a Friday night. You had our contact details, please at least have the decency to contact us that you are cancelling our reservation rather than leaving it until we turn up to be told. We are not local and had already travelled for 5 hours in horrendous weather and were left at the last minute to look for an alternative. Not really a warm welcome

Service and food was really good, the price was very good, staff very friendly and polite. Staff was very helpful.

Hardly any other diners there at the time we were. Food ok but nothing special. Wont be in a rush to go back

Very disappointed with the food, we have been to other pubs where the meal has been far better, under the previous owner/tenants the food was far better and you had to book in advance, we were there at 7.30 and it was pretty much empty. The staff were very nice but I can’t say I would ever go back, and there was also no Guinness.

Lovely spot for Sunday lunch and had our table ready on arrival with a highchair. Only niggle was the staff lacked attention to detail and we found we had to ask for everything including menus etc which meant we were up and down from the table. We will come back in future

The website is not up to date and stated that they did a variety of meals on Sunday but when we got there they only did Sunday roasts. Nobody seemed over bothered even though they were aware that the website wasn't correct. We had already ordered drinks so had to drink them quickly before moving on as we had paid for them which I thought they would give us FOC for in the inconvenience.

2 Beef roast dinners ordered came with cold mash potatoes, cold carrots which were burnt around the edges., a full gravy boat of cold gravy. Told a waitress who reply she would get the dinners reheated and returned with them about 5 minutes later. My husband and I both then tried again to eat our lunch which I can only say was appalling. We both left the majority of our lunch as both the carrots and parsnips were burnt, the roast potatoes were rock hard and the beef was dreadful and still cold. I was charged £51.30 and went home and had to cook some toad sandwiches because husband was going to work a night shift at 20.00. Would never go back th White Hart would never recommend it before it was a pub doing carvery lunch and was great the new owners need to send in mystery customer get a true re flood their food. Not happy at all wished I’d took some pictures now !!!
