White Dog Cafe's newest location brings local, seasonal, and sustainable dining to Chester County. The original Vickers Tavern has been completely renovated, and the White Dog Cafe has preserved the building's history while adding chic farmhouse aesthetics and dog-themed decor. The restaurant features seven distinct dining rooms, each with its own unique personality and design. In addition, there is an expansive outdoor patio with a gas fireplace and retractable cover. The open Barn room includes a large oval bar, a sitting area by an open fireplace, and doors leading to the outdoor potting shed. The menu includes several White Dog staples, such as Kennett Square Mushroom Soup, Double Cheddar Burger, Lamb Bolognese, Truffle Fries, and house-made bread baskets from local farms, alongside new additions.

This was our first time here. Beautiful restaurant and ambience, that alone would bring us back! Our server Anna was very pleasant and attentive, helped guide us through the menu. The mushroom soup was warm at best, a little too sweet for our taste. It was just okay as were the fried pickles which could have been crispier but not bad overall, again I’ve had better. Meatloaf lacked flavor and was a little too soft in texture for my liking. Mac and cheese side was solid! Chopped salmon salad was delicious and would definitely order again. There are other items I’m curious to try, but not sure it wowed us enough to come back that soon. It was nice the manager stopped by and again the service was excellent.

What a wonderful surprise to see how the former restaurant has been transformed into an elegant dining experience. We were blown away. We were immediately greeted as we entered with a welcoming tone. Our server was knowledgeable, eager to share her positive experiences about White Dog and checked in to make sure that our food choices were pleasing. This will be a new go-to place for many dining experiences to come.

Kelby was terrific! She was very attentive and provided wonderful service to celebrate my birthday with my close family friends. The food and outdoor seating was perfect. Thank you for a great night🥳

Made reservations weeks in advance for an upcoming anniversary. Had to wait 20 minutes for a table, despite showing up on time. Eventually was seated right next to a loud congested bar, but didn’t quibble about the seats because we were hungry. Ambience is excellent and service was good. Menu items overall were overpriced by about 25%. each main entrée we ordered had a little too much of one particular spice for our taste. For example, I I like thyme but there was way too much in my French onion soup. My lamb shank was excellent and had a deep rich sauce, but it was placed over Paul that was over seasoned and had way too much cheese in it. My wife ordered a fancy take on meatloaf and it came out tasting like a mousse that came out of a cat food container. The drinks and wine were excellent and we would go again just for cocktails and snacks.

This place is still new, and it is pretty crowded. Our appetizers, drinks, entrees and desserts were all absolutely delicious. The fall menu is now available and we ordered the Asian spare ribs with sesame-crusted rice and kimchi and the lamb shank with polenta. We can’t wait to return! Our server, Lauren was fantastic- very professional and kind.
