In June 1896, the trolley system that linked St. Charles, Geneva, Batavia, Aurora, and Elgin, IL began to offer service to local citizens. Overhead wires that ran along the track supplied the power to the single, open-air cars.

The trolley came from South Elgin and traveled along the east side of the river, through the St. Charles Country Club and along Route 25. From Main Street, it went west, crossed over the bridge, and turned south on 3rd Street to go to Geneva.

It was at this last turn that conductors would stop the trolley and allow passengers to disembark for a quick drink to warm up during the winter months. Welcome back to Whiskey Bend.

Was seated inside; wasn’t very busy at all. Waited 5 mins for a drink menu then had to ask the hostess for one. Waited another 5 mins and never saw a server. Got up, went outside and sat at the bar. The lone bartender was swamped but was infinitely more attentive than anyone inside. Food was good. Service, except for the bartender outside, was abysmal.

We entered the front door and bartender said the hostess is in the back on patio entrance. Busy patio due to afternoon band. We go to patio gate to find a podium where a hostess would work. No signs about seating so we stand there for 10 mins. Nice hostess ask our name and says yes - your inside and drags us all the way through crowd to inside near front door where we entered. Wouldn’t be smart to have hostess at both entrances?? We ordered the hush puppies app and they were so dry they crumbled and could barely use fork to eat them. My husbands grouper sandwich was ok, but not tasty and bland white sauce. I had the steak wrap and it was a sloppy mess. Steak was ok but the sauce inside was too much and sloppy. My husband asked 3 people for ketchup that was suppose to come with his meal. My husband received his ketchup. 20 mins later and finally it arrived to use on cold fries. We left 2 hush puppies and 1/2 a wrap on plates. The servers were stretched thin and when we left - our food/plates were still on our table. Many others were rumbling about poor service. One guy got up to get another chair and place settings that never arrived. Doubt I would eat here again

Short rib taco was yummy. French onion soup and Mac and cheese tasted great. Love the patio. Service was excellent

I met a friend for lunch on a Saturday. We ate the bar. Our service was amazing, even with most of the patrons outside on the patio. It was a great experience. I will be back

We decided to eat outside since inside was dead on a Sunday night. Food and service were good, fries a little overdone. Outside patio gives New Orleans vibes meets industrial Whiskey bar. Would go again when back in town.

Great time and the food was really good! The outdoor spot is a slice of heaven on a beautiful day.

Great food in a great outdoor setting. Only wish we could have stayed for the music from 3 -6.

Cool old venue, updated nicely. Good was just ok. My wife had the wrong thing delivered - it happens. They comped it. Which was very nice. When they brought the right thing it was Theon together and the watermelon at bottom of salad should never have been served. It was mush Server was sweet. Outdoor is really nice Wanted to love it, But had hope for a bit more. Will give it another shot

First time here. We liked it! Service was very good. I highly recommend the shareable build your own Mac and Cheese! We added short rib, bacon and sautéed spinach - sooooo good! Very creamy and delicious. Now if you don't want to share, this could be your main meal. It's huge! All the food was good. My husband only had one note on his meal ... he ordered the Tuna tomato melt with a side of potato salad. Both items was way too mayonnaise forward - especially the Tuna. It would benefit from less, much less mayo with the Tuna and a little less for the potato salad. Red Curry Fish tacos good! Fries good! We shared the bread pudding for dessert --- that was excellent! Thanks for a lovely Father's Day dinner. We will be back.
