In June 1896, the trolley system that linked St. Charles, Geneva, Batavia, Aurora, and Elgin, IL began to offer service to local citizens. Overhead wires that ran along the track supplied the power to the single, open-air cars.

The trolley came from South Elgin and traveled along the east side of the river, through the St. Charles Country Club and along Route 25. From Main Street, it went west, crossed over the bridge, and turned south on 3rd Street to go to Geneva.

It was at this last turn that conductors would stop the trolley and allow passengers to disembark for a quick drink to warm up during the winter months. Welcome back to Whiskey Bend.

Everything was good, except I had made a reservation and my two friends who got there before me, asked to sit in the bar to wait for me and was told by the bartender that they would have to see the hostess and that they could not sit there and then my friend said can I order a drink and he said yes, but you cannot sit here you have to close it out immediately. That really bothered me I don’t understand why you can’t just walk in and sit at the bar and have a drink. I probably won’t go back there for that because there’s enough places to go to that. We don’t have to worry about someone telling us we can’t walk in and sit at the bar to wait for somebody. That’s going to arrive in the next five minutes.

We attended a show at the Arcadia and needed a nice, quite place to have a dinner before the show. We chose Whiskey Bend and we were very satisfied with our choice! The cuisine was typical casual dining, but the quality was outstanding. The service was perfect. If your looking for a place to eat before enjoying a show at the Arcadia, this is a good choice for great food, efficient service, and a good value!

Had a reservation but were told the kitchen was behind. But it wasn’t just slow, the servers weren’t allowed to even submit new food orders for another 30+ minutes. Honestly never heard a restaurant say that you weren’t allowed to order. They didn’t offer to comp our drinks or anything so we had to finish our drinks and find somewhere else to eat.

First time ever we walked out of a restaurant. Poor service never received our dinner after an hour of waiting. Manager bought us our drinks but was unable to tell us when our food would arrive. At that point it was time to leave.

The ambience was great and the food/drinks were wonderful. However the service was extremely slow. We were seated on the back patio and the weather was perfect. So the place was packed.

The food was outstanding. The server was fantastic. The patio was absolutely full, so we sat inside. The noise level was unbearable. The server told us they were going to address the issue. Until they do, I will be requesting the patio.

Bar service continues to be lacking, half filled glasses for $15 drinks(in fact wrong glasses used). Not very accommodating to requests. Overall good experience, just has a feel of a chain restaurant, not local and personal.

We absolutely love whiskey bend! The ambiance is amazing and so beautiful. The food is outstanding and we always love it!

Great food and service in the back patio. Got there before happy hour ended and took advantage of the drink and food specials.

Our first time dining here and the energy of this place is great! It was a busy Saturday night and we could tell they were a little understaffed (with all the college kid staff now gone for school), but our server Dawn was awesome and went the extra mile to take good care of us! She really made the experience a positive one! The menu is very interesting and the old fashioneds were tasty. We look forward to coming back.
