Our mission is to source the region’s best seafood and seasonal produce by partnering with like-minded suppliers.

Our commitment to locality and our selection of produce flows into everything we offer; from Hastings River Oysters to Urban Grain bread and pastries.

We aim to showcase these ingredients by preparing them carefully and serving them simply.

Having read previous reviews expectations were high. But unfortunately, the restaurant didn’t live up to expectations. The setting is pleasant on a river and the menu had potential. We had oysters and roasted prawns as a starter. The oysters were very small and the prawns underwhelming. The main course we both had grilled fish. The sauce was OK, but my partners fish was undercooked, mine was fine. I was surprised that when we reported the undercooked fish to the waitress, nothing happened. I wanna apologize. He just went back to the kitchen. We also ordered some extra potatoes, but they were inappropriate for the dish, and it would’ve been nice if the waitress had have mentioned that they were maybe more for a meat dish rather than fish. The wine was excellent. And desserts were possible but nothing special. The surprise hit was the grilled vegetables which was a side dish, but absolutely fantastic. The fish and chips my daughter had at the local surf club were better than the portion she received at this restaurant. The olives that we got while we waited we’re also a bit strange, very, very small more stone than olive , and we hardly finished them when we would normally have gobbled up a bowl of olives, that size in no time. Overall, a bit disappointing, certainly not bad, but at 300 bucks for 2 adults and a child it felt less than good value. No comment

Lovely food, great cocktails and friendly wait staff. Angus in particular was very happy and helpful.

Excellent service and the food was sensational. There was a problem with one serving (barramundi undercooked) which when brought to their attention resulted in a complete replacement of the meal and sides and a complimentary dessert! That's the way to handle problems. It is a little on the pricy side but that's to be expected.

Overall the experience was excellent and the outlook on the river is quite relaxing. Our mains, sides and dessert were all excellent. However our entree of scallops was a little underwhelming. Compared to other restaurants in the two preceding days the scallops were about half the size and not as fresh. The wine menu is quite reasonable but could do with a few more wines by the glass. No Champagne by the glass unfortunately.

The mains were outstanding, the service was excellent as always and the ambiance perfect. Loved the summer cocktail. Only downside were the desserts which were underwhelming, sadly not to the standard of all the other menu items. Even so we will be back- great venue for a lovely evening out.

Fabulous food, the swordfish was the best we have ever had. Outstanding service. Beautiful location on the river. Wonderful restaurant.

Ordered the scallops twice the size of a pea and totally over charged.. Service was excellent food a dissapointment

Love dining at the Whale Bone PMQ, one of my favorite places to dine with guests, the service and food is always 5 star!

We had not been back to the Whalebone for some time. We had a lovely lunch to celebrate our 49th wedding anniversary. Food was perfect , wine selection large, the Australian Chardonnay perfect with the freshest beautiful seafood we enjoyed. Staff attentive, friendly without familiarity. We will be back soon.
