Not how I remember this place about 5-6 years ago (I think new owners). The food was bad compared to the steep price and at one point the waitress truly rolled her eyes at us when we said we weren't ready for the 2nd bottle of wine given we didn't finish the first with appetizers.

Comfortable seating, great bar, attentive wait staff Food was quite good One negative was that the side of wild rice was actually regular rice with a bit of wild rice mixed in

This is one of the best spaces, for ambience, in Door County. 100-year-old veranda in the heart of Fish Creek. A great dining site. The restaurant got sold in the past 2-3 years. Previously, it was a very fine restaurant, with consistently good food and a very good wine list. The ambience is still wonderful. It’s hard to change that. The restaurant, though, has lost a step. I love what they do with the 1920s vibe. It is cool, and enhances the already great ambience. It makes you feel great to be on the veranda. But the food quality has diminished. The wine list has greatly diminished. I ordered halibut. It was terribly overcooked. Basically dried out. $49 of terrible fish. Atrocious. Halibut is an ocean fish, and should be tender and flaky. This was a fish turned into stone. Without a chisel, I was left with my fork and my teeth to penetrate it. The cook ruined a food piece of fish. My fish sandwich at the Red Room in Sturgeon Bay today was much more satisfying, and cost less than the square root of 49. $6.50. The root-vegetable side dish was 95% potatoes, with few other vegetables or ingredients. My wife ordered scallops. They were okay, but all of her food came out cool or cold, even the haricots verts (green beans). Even my six-year-old granddaughter can serve hot green beans. As far as the wine list, it is bad. They have two lists: the regular list, and a reserve list. Both lists are very small. The regular list has very bad wines, things you could get for about $10, but still marked up to $25-30. The reserve list is tiny, with a similar 100-150% markup. And, buyer beware. They were “out” of the wines on their reserve list, but then presented us with wines which magically appeared and cost about $45 more. There appeared then a harridan who almost made us leave the restaurant, but happily the other people at the restaurant agreed to a fair price for the substitute wine. Other than the mean harridan, the service was good

Food and service are great! Bar area with live music is loud so we opted to sit on the deck. Perfect! We could still hear the music but easier to hear our conversation.

Met the owner and he was fabulous! All the workers are family members. They had live music and it was quiet enough to talk. Great experience!

very expensive. over $300 for 4 people. no bread service but had dry and partially cold fish shaped pretzel. strange unfinished decor. we were the only table in the place. food was decent. but overall an odd experience.

We appreciate you dining with us. I did take a look back at your receipt, you ordered 4 entrees, an appetizer and 2 glasses of one of our most expensive wines, prices are listed on the menu. With this being said, if you remove the wine from the check you would have averaged about $60/pp. We understand this pricing is not for everyone but it is similar to many other locations here in Door County. No where do we state that we offer bread service, as our portions are extremely substantial we do not believe bread is necessary. We do wish you would have brought to our attention that some was wrong with your meal during your visit as we would have been happy to fix the issue. Before opening last year the restaurant had a complete full makeover, where everything was updated to fit our theme.

We were big fans of the Whistling Swan restaurant. This was a disappointment. While there was nothing overtly wrong with the food, it was nothing like the former place. It was very standard fare supper club style and way overpriced.

While we also loved the Whistling Swan, we are an entirely different entity with a completely different experience, we apologize you were expecting something else but we do hope you come and see us again in the future.

Lovely evening. We ordered appetizers (sesame salmon and ribs) and the portions were large enough to be entrees. The quality of our drinks was mixed--gin and tonic good, Old Fashioned didn't taste quite right. The very engaging chef stopped by twice--a nice touch. Our waitress was pleasant and accommodating.
