Water Lane is a restaurant based within a working market garden in the High Weald of Kent. Guided by the seasons, our menu reflects its sense of place in the English countryside where we grow our own vegetables and use local suppliers. Our ever changing menu is simple but prepared with imagination and care by our Head Chef Jed Wrobel and his team.

The Good Food Guide 2023 describes us as 'A contender for one of the most charming eateries in Kent, it's pretty much impossible to resist the lure of this rural restaurant tucked away in a delightful walled garden...'

We are open Wednesday to Sunday 10am - 4.30pm. Our the restaurant is currently located on our outside terrace which is situated under a tented awning, overlooking the garden. We don't take bookings for breakfast. Well behaved dogs are welcome on a leash.

Never fails to disappoint. The food is continually exquisite and service exemplary. Thank you yet again for the most wonderful lunch!

Lovely food and garden great for artists. Food expensive and not a great garden for serious gardeners.

Very disappointed compared to previous years. I think the menu and pricing should be better matched.

Delicious menu options and the food delivered on the promise in the menu. Very fresh and plenty of interesting flavours. Service was excellent, both friendly and informative. We have been a few times and the walled garden is coming along nicely.

We came here for breakfast on a Sunday morning. The setting is beautiful. Surrounded by plants, flowers and growing fruit and vegetables. The staff are very friendly and although a limited menu, the food and coffees are great.

The food was great. We had a shared nibble of asparagus and aioli and the n followed with the minestrone soup, which was super. The eclair we shared was stupendous. For lunch I think there needs to be more choice of smaller meals, or even a lunch menu. Sadly it was freezing , we both had to ask for blankets. A shame, as it spoilt the food experience and the venue because we were so cold.

It's quite a quirky establishment - a reasonably up-market (but not stupidly so) restaurant grafted on to a sort-of garden centre. The food was jolly good and flavoursome, and the lady who looked after us was most charming and witty - extremely good value :-). We will be going again.

More plant based options would be so good. It's in a stunning setting, surrounded by the most delicious veg and herbs, yet plant based or vegan options are quite limited. Which is a huge shame. Staff are brilliant. Location is so lovely. Food is really very good indeed.
