Established in 1997 Waraji has been offering an extensive selection of sushi, sashimi & authentic Japanese cuisine. We also feature a unique selection of Japanese microbrewery rice-based beers. Our sushi menu includes the highest quality sushi and sashimi and a wide variety of specialty house rolls (Scary Jerry, The Waraji, Hinata, and The Sweet Dragon just to name a few) Our authentic kitchen offers a full menu of tempura, teriyaki grilled items, nabeyaki udon, shabu shabu hotpot, A5 wagyu, ishiyaki. Chef Masa, with over 30 years of sushi experience, invites you to join him and his staff for a true taste of Japan.

Waraji recently renovated and added an Izakaya Bar/Lounge carrying the largest Sake and Japanese Whiskey selection in the Carolinas, along with many beers on Tap including Japanese Beers like Kyoto Bakushu Matcha (Green) IPA only served exclusively here at Waraji. Also, we carry Japanese Beers in Bottles and Cans like Orion, Sapporo, Kirin, Asahi, and Echigo Koshihikari

It was an OK experience. Food was good although not plentiful portions. Unfortunately, we don’t eat raw anything so this place might not have been our best choice for dinner. It was a little pricey for what we ordered, but that seems to be the case nowadays every where. Our server was very attentive without being bothersome, and did a good job. Payment was all electronic so it would have been nice to have seen the bill before making the payment. Always get a hard copy to check to make sure it is correct!

Sushi was mid. Bland so all the rolls tasted the same. Service was pretty good and a nice atmosphere. Plenty of variety in drink choices.

The food was amazing! The spicy chili edamame were packed with flavor and my mouth was on fire in the best way possible! We did two signature rolls and 5 orders of nigiri. The pieces of fish on top of the spiral ecstasy roll were so thick and delicious! The toro nigiri was out of this world! I also tried their plum wine and enjoyed it, like drinking apple juice! The restaurant has expanded since I was here last and the new wing really fits an asian luxury vibe in a subtle way that is still approachable for a walk in meal! Pricey but worth it! I can’t wait to come back!!

We are discriminating sushi and other Japanese cuisine customers (husband lived in Tokyo) and Waraji remains our go-to for the freshest, best sushi and other dishes- it literally has never disappointed. The service is also very good. It is always full but must have good acoustics to limit noise because it has never too loud for us.

This place was awesome - however the parking lot does get jam packed on the weekend, I think that speaks to how awesome it was!!

We had reservations for 5:00pm, right as they opened, so it wasn’t crowded yet and the noise level was low. Don’t know what it’s like at their busiest. The food was great, we had the eel box, the best anywhere, and sushi. Service was wonderful, our waitress was superb (don’t remember her name but she’s originally from Beijing). This is our favorite restaurant for eel and sushi hands down.
