Drinks at the bar were well prepared and very good. Bartenders were very friendly. Overall ambience, look and feel were as expected. The pianist in the restaurant was excellent. Unfortunately, the pork loin was a little tough and not as tender as it should have been. I would go back and try something else.

Hostess never told us our table was ready. After waiting in bar. Need to ask again if it’s ready. I had to go back and ask for service after not being given menus or water. Terrible service considering it was a top fine dining restaurant many years ago. Food was mediocre. It’s a shell of its former days.

Our party of 2 were seated in a small self-contained room with 3 other tables (with 4,2,and2 persons at them). The room was open to the bar. Just around the corner from our table in the bar area a pianist started playing, making conversation difficult to impossible. The waiter only had the above 4 tables to serve, yet we waited a long time for him to take our order, then waited for our main meal to arrive. The cod, which we both had, needed seasoning as it was bland (there was no salt or pepper on the table). We declined desert, figuring we’d cut our losses. We found out the main dining room was closed to set up for a wedding. So I can’t comment on what our experience would have been had we been in there.

The food is delicious, however service is terrible. Our server couldn't get a handle of manage the order at all. we were first of three tables outside to sot down and order. unfortunately we were the last table to receive anything. First we sat over a glass of water for 30' despite ordering drinks and snacks as soon as we sat down. when the food finally arrived, everything was dumped at our table at once - drinks, snacks, appetizers, bread basket. to the point that there was no place to eat. long wait again for mains. my husband's and my main dish arrived, however, our son's burger was missing. when it came 5' later, it had a mayo which we specifically asked to leave out since he has egg allergy. another 10' before new burger came. by now we were sitting outside in the dark, being eaten by mosquitos. server didn't try to fix the situation and towards the end flat out avoided our table. although we really liked the food, we will not be returning.

Really nice surprise. Great ambiance, service and food. Was really surprised that it wasn’t more crowded. It’s a great alternative to Alta, Zinc, Cafe Adam, etc.

We always enjoy our dinners at The Gateways and last night , in spite of a couple of glitches, was no longer exception. Food quality is great, everyone ordered something different and all dishes were excellent. Server was experienced and took care of glitches seamlessly. Kitchen was overwhelmed due to a private party, but all in all went fine. Kudos to Katie and management team, they treat you like a valued guest.

I added this restaurant to our recent trip to Tanglewood (based on reviews) and I regret it because we had limited nights to enjoy the many fine eateries and this was the low point. The menu lacks interest and any fine choices. Our table had 4 different entrees burger, chicken, pork, fish and all were ok but nothing great. When the fries are the best thing at the table, it’s not good. Our waiter was nice but spent more time chatting with friends at the bar than waiting on diners. It took forever between courses and a summons to a server to finally get the check. In all we were here for 2-1/2 hours + . In addition there was a piano player, which should have been enjoyable, but was so loud we were yelling across the table to hear each other. So unless you’re looking for a tired atmosphere with mediocre food, choose one of the other many fine restaurants in the area.

Very pretty place. Not a lot of choice for low carbs. Every one enjoyed their food. Homemade cookiin cast iron was to die for.

Gateway is a very pretty restaurant. The food is mediocre at best. We ordered the pate to share. Country Pate usually comes with small toast. This pate came with bread that looked like it was for French toast. My husband had steak which he said was tasteless and I had salmon which was okay.
