The Waldhaus is located just a quick walk down the hill from the Fairmont Banff Springs. For direct access you can park at the Bow Falls parking lot and walk up the driveway or stairs. A complementary shuttle is also available from the main bus entrance at the hotel. The hotel's parking is located beside the Convention Center. Didn’t get the salads as described in the menu. Separate check for two couples were all mixed up.

The waitress and manager were helpful, the food was nice and as we were in the outside room the noise was not excessive. Overall a good experience. It’s a bit awkward to get to the restaurant from the hotel unless you get the shuttle down. We got a little lost walking down so caught the shuttle back.

Characterful (if totally fake, obviously) ‘German style’ lodge in the grounds of the Banff Springs hotel. Schnitzel was average at best, compared to the genuine article. We guessed that non-residents are put into a side room of the restaurant but that may be mistaken depending on demand, and is reasonable enough I suppose. We were happy as it turned out as we enjoyed seeing a herd of Elk cross the adjacent golf course fairway and hold up the traffic for 10 mins or so.

We had the Schnitzel and the Bratwurst. Both were excellent. The onion soup was really tasty and we loved the pretzel dip that came with our soft pretzel appetizer. Finally, the apple strudel was a big hit with us. Service was great. Our server was friendly and helpful and the waits weren't long. The scenery was amazing although our table wasn't the best for that. Can be hard to find... do your homework beforehand - the restaurant is not in the Fairmont Banff Springs as you might assume (we did) and not even within easy walking distance from there. Park down by the Bow River Falls lot.

Fun Bavarian cuisine. While we were dining, there was a herd of elk in the meadow. The bull was bugling and herding his harem. A very memorable cuisine and environment.

The place is very difficult to find. We had to park far away from the Fairmont hotel, that the Waldhaus is supposed to be in, at the rate of $13/hour. Walked a long way to the lobby to find out they have to shuttle you up the hill in a golf cart. Ultimately we had to get a van for part of the trip and a golf cart for the rest. They dropped us off at the lower end (what we didn’t know at the time was this was not the actual restaurant- it was the pub part of the place.) we walked up about 20 stairs and told the guy we had a reservation and we were early - they had water damage so there were only a few tables not very attractive to sit. He never asked if we wanted to sit in the restaurant upstairs which we didn’t even know existed until after we went up to catch our shuttle back to the lobby so we could take the hike back to parking. Waiter was arrogant and food was mediocre. I do not recommend this restaurant. Was the worst restaurant experience ever.

The food was delicious although there is a very limited menu. The wait staff was very friendly but not overly attentive. The host was very friendly and accommodating.
