The Waggon & Horses, situated on Great North Road, dates back to the early 1700s when it was originally two cottages, but has held a licence since before 1799! Here we serve delicious, traditional pub food from our seasonal menus, and we also have a great Sunday menu - perfect for treating the family! The service was slow to say the least. There was no chicken for the roast, so I had a chicken burger. It was not great and terribly presented.

Not sure if it was because of the bank holiday weekend but the place was understaffed and we had to wait 15 minutes to be seated; we were told straightaway on arrival that there would be a wait for food. Just generally not welcoming so we just had a drink & went elsewhere.

Sunday roast. As returning customers we expected the food to it's usual good standard. But seeing the place empty apart from 2 pr 3 tables didn't bode well. Apparently it's either recently changed hands, or definitely the "chef" the term I use losely. The beef was extremely tough. After complaining, quietly I might add. The "chef" suggested we use steak knives! Yes. That was his answer. We didn't eat it. Couldn't eat it! No apology, nothing taken off the bill. Disgraceful. Avoid!

Food was good. Wait time for food was also good. We had 3 mains 3 drinks and it was £20 per person. I think this was a reasonable price for what we had. Will definitely eat here again.

We love popping to the Waggon Horses for a drink but our Sunday roast yesterday was very disappointing. We had roast beef and it was very difficult to cut and so were the parsnips!

Good food, good service. Food well presented. Staff very friendly. We all really enjoyed the evening.

This is a great pub with good atmosphere and welcoming staff. The reason for not giving a 5 star rating is because when we arrived they had run out of some produce and were unable to offer the full range on their menu. This does show though how popular they are.

A really nice visit with friendly efficient staff excellent quality food and drinks. This pub has always been known for its good service and good food at Good value would strongly recommend.

The pastry was hard and this made it difficult to eat. Service was good. Atmosphere was ok.
