We enjoyed Wagamama. The food was excellent. We received a 15% discount when we said we’d be attending a concert at Carnegie Hall after our meal.

The hostess was inexperienced and apathetic. She should have informed us that they were unable to make anything fried PRIOR to making us wait for 15 minutes, in spite of us having a booking and arriving on time. When another guest overhead us about what we were planning to get, only he had the courtesy to tell us that they aren’t able to serve anything fried (roughly 1/3 to 1/2 their menu). When I mentioned this to the hostess she visibly shrugged and said “oh ok”. The server was more empathetic and had the best intentions, but she appeared overworked in an understaffed / under motivated environment.

We admittedly were looking for sushi and when we searched Yelp, this was one of the choices. There was no sushi on the menu upon arrival... It was "other" Asian Fushion. That said, the menu was inventive and varied. There were booths along the walls of the place where you could sit back and relax. We, on the other hand, were seated on the less-comfortable wooden benched communal table, though a table setting separated us from the families with cute screaming babies. Our Wagamama salad with salmon was delicious (though the salmon was too well cooked) and our tuna takaki also quite good. Our cod with soba noodles was salty and greasy and it took a very long time for me to get my green tea (30+ minutes). We would not come back.

I came to the restaurant with two friends to take advantage of the $30 tasting menu. The server told us the menu was not available since the fryer was broken. I was a bit disappointed because I was looking forward to this specialized menu. It would have been nice if there were substitute items that could have been a part of the tasting menu. In addition when we were served our appetizer, we were not given serving plates but rather had to request them which was a bit surprising. Not sure if I will come back again.

Definitely would not recommend. Tried their tasting menu and it was a disaster drinks came out after food but only because we repeatedly requested them. Then got the wrong drinks. Main course was brought to one person in the party during the appetizers and then at the end was given a check from a completely different table. The servers were not friendly, it was just chaos. On the plus side the food was hot.

We had a nice experience at Wagamama and the food was very good. Unfortunately, we were seated by the hostess 15 minutes after our reservation time, making us have to really rush the meal in order to make a Broadway show. There were empty tables all around, and we stated our concerns, but they were not met with any care, just indifference. The wait staff was terrific, but the hostess was either new, or off of their game.

Friendly service and nice choices of Asian influenced food. Most tables have stools which is not great for older knees and backs, but useful for fast lunches.
