Right in the heart of Belden alley, Incantations is a bar/ restaurant founded by the ever popular Voodoo Love SF!
IYKYK! Chef Eva Morris was recently featured on the food network CHOPPED! (Season 54 episode 9, incase you are wondering and want to watch). We bring Creole Nouveaux, from the center of our hearts to the heart of Belden Alley! This is the first black owned and women operated restaurant on Belden Pl. We are making Her-Story!

Thanks to the gracious lease holders we are able to permanently settle in here and create amazing creole inspired food. We are Creole Nouveaux – This means we are committed to bringing all flavors from all cultures. You will see Southern, Latin, Italian, Asian and African, American foods on our menu. Fun place for a casual, work, or romantic meal. The Mardi Gras upbeat vibe hits you as soon as you step in. Everyone loved their dish - Pineapple Fo’ Yo Soul Bowl (Creole flavor - NOT Hawaiian or Asian, as one may assume), Fish and Gritz (sautéed shrimp atop a bed of grits WITH smacking gravy! Voted as the group’s Favorite. Just look at my picture!), Da Catfish Plate (huge piece with the perfect crunch!), Dat Fuqin Seafood Roll (dripping with yummy juice and loaded with lobster, shrimp and crawfish, yet the ACME roll kept its delicate crunch), and Beignets (of course! Theirs was on the moist and dense side, not like the fluffy ones I’m used to, like in Disneyland - love theirs!). Each dish tasted specially different from other dishes of the name. Our palates were so pleased with our main entrees that a couple of people decided to order more food-to-go to share with their families, including the gumbo! The feedback fro Mtn wke families is they “Loved it!” Chef Eva’s green sauce is delicious on everything. I kid you not. We didn’t try their cocktails as we had to return to work. Their bar was loaded, though, and we do not doubt their drinks would be bomb just like their food. Definitely a hidden gem in the Financial District’s Belden Place alley, which you will leave dancing and wanting to return!

We had a birthday dinner here with 10 people. The experience was very positive; the food was good, the variety of the food was fun. The only problem was that some of the special touches promised for the birthday celebration did not come through. Specifically the cake was not what had been agreed to. Also, personalized menus for the event. I would recommend this venue for a celebration of this type. But beware that all might not be as promised.

I made a reservation and arrived for my reservation within the hours noted as open on the restaurant's website, and the restaurant was closed. No sign on the door. No contact with people with reservations. I was very disappointed because I wanted to support and was excited.

Arrived and was given menus by someone who was at the bar not the staff. Waited about 7 minutes and the bartender came over to seat us. Told us the chef was out and the new chef was still prepping. Wanted to give them a try since we were in town from Texas so we waited. After 30 minutes or so, we tried placing our order only to find out half of the menu wasn't available. Once again, I still had hope and ordered what was available. First plate came out and the food was ok. The brussel sprouts were great. My order was not put in and I had to wait another 30 minutes. Food cane out the fries were so greasy and barely edible. Shrimp was overly battered. The flashed fried collard greens were good. The bartender apologized about the wait and food not being properly prepared. Told us we would get a discount and was hit with $70.00 bill. It was not worth the money at all. He did his best but the overall experience was not good. Maybe I will try another location if I'm ever in the area.

Food was just ok. Food was not flavorful . I expected more from a Cajun restaurant . I tried several dishes and did not care for any. I gave service a 4 because one person was serving tables , working the bar, serving as hostess and waitress. I would say there are better choices in San Fran .

We truly enjoyed our dining experience at this restaurant. When we got there we found out that some of their menu dishes were not available as they had ran out of some thing during a prior event and the reorder would be arriving the day after our reservation…. That was not a problem for us as they had crawfish étouffée, red beans & rice, shrimp & grits and corn bread. We were greeted by Carl who was the bartender and also our host, he was phenomenal extremely attentive and made a mean sangria! The server was very nice and when he delivered the shrimp & grits asked about how experience was so far…nice touch. Street parking could be difficult, there are a couple of parking garages a block or 2 away or better yet take a ferry like we did and enjoy the walk. We will definitely be back, the restaurant reminded us of NOLA!
