Vito’s Italian Cafe, soon to be known as one of Albany’s best Italian restaurants, is run by Chef Vito Amato and partner Ashley Aquilo. For generations, the Amato family has shared their talent with Italian / Sicilian cuisine. Vito’s father, Lorenzo, co-founded Oma Pizza in Saratoga, NY (four time winner of the World’s Largest Pizza).

I ordered the chicken parm with a side of spaghetti with the marinera sauce and everything was excellent.

Vito's needs some work - not in a groove. This cafe is really nice - tastefully decorated and comfortable. Service and food are not there yet. The volume on the TV in the dining area is deafening. Service was ragged - Taylor gave it a nice try - but needs training and needs to learn the menu. Somehow my pizza order got fouled up and the pizza had to be remade. One of the owners let me know and offered an adjustment on my check. Taylor came by about 10 minutes later and said "your pizza is almost ready - should be done soon". Now - the restaurant was not busy. The garlic bread and dinner salads are very good. Garlic bread has the right amount of butter and crisp. Dinner salad is beautifully arranged - house Italian dressing is nice - not too heavy and good seasoning. Pizza was a letdown. Too little sauce and sausage. Too thickly sliced green peppers (could not cook and were raw on the pizza). Crust is good - but could not overcome the other problems.

Tried for the first time and were impressed. Meals were cooked-to-order and were delicious. Portions were ample and very moderately priced. Only drawback, maybe, is that there was nor wine or beer served.
