Stationed in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago, Virtue is a Southern American restaurant that leads with a culture of hospitality & kindness. We’ve worked hard to create a warm, honest & thoughtful space. We pride ourselves on unpretentious service, timing & most importantly providing great value. Virtue is very deserving of its James Beard nomination and award. I would fly back to Chicago just to eat here again.

Virtue literally never disappoints me! The staff is so friendly and professional, they are personable, and they always know how to be fun with the guests but still give us space to enjoy ourselves during our dining experience.

The food was good. We had the walleye and the salmon entrees and everything was cooked perfectly. The flavors were good but nothing really wowed us. Portion sizes are extremely variable. The short rib dish was very large [saw a few ordered next to us] walleye was average, and salmon very small. This place is very casual in style and dress [although it says business casual it is NOT.-even the staff were too casual in dress.] Policy should say no dress code. I dont mind either way but lets just be honest. The place is extremely loud and no accommodations for hearing impaired needs [i.e. bar seating, side by side seating, noise buffers]. Can hear person to to the left but not the person in front. It is NOT "an intimate" restaurant as described [crowded is more accurate]. Going in for the first time, I had mixed expectations. Overall met expectations based on menu price points [low] but did not meet expectations based on descriptions /awarded chefs. [I have eaten from James Beard award winning restaurants/chefs and *, ** and *** Michellin star restaurants]. Overall, I would recommend Virtue as a top quality but in a busy, casual, crowded venue.

Took my niece and grandniece here for dinner they had the catfish and short ribs. They enjoyed their food. Our server Anthony was outstanding he was very helpful. His wine suggestion was great. They will be back on their next trip to Chicago.

We came to have a romantic dinner for our 44th wedding anniversary. We were disappointed that the seating was basically right next to each other and one of the tables had a busy child moving around. Not the experience we had hoped for - it was our first visit, and now we know what to expect.

The food was flavorful, authentic, beautifully presented. Cocktails were excellent and colorful. Service was detailed and well executed. Seating felt a bit tight and the noise level was moderate at the start of our meal and loud at the end. Price point was good for the quality and experience. We’ll be back to try brunch.
