I have eaten at Virgil’s three times. The first time was fantastic and the other two times left much to be desired. Today, I ordered the okra gumbo and the consistency was like soup. The menu listed it as having shrimp, okra, crab, and sausage. It had an okra garnish and shrimp on the top and that was it. The rest of it was like a broth. I told the manager and she said they should change the name to an okra soup because that’s the way it’s served. I arrived hungry and left the same way. I must say the corn muffins are consistently outstanding. I don’t think I will return.

I had a delicious & memorable Sunday afternoon brunch with a dear friend at Virgil’s. The service was a little slow, but that’s expected on a Sunday afternoon at any soul food place in Atlanta. Our food was hot & delicious. Our service from Khali was attentive & sweet. The music was soulful & just right. We’ll be back for sure!

The service was great this was our first time here and the server was very patient and helpful. The food came out quick and was amazing.

Free parking was a plus, food was very tasty and quick after ordering. Was bummed there was no corn muffins available which are a hit. Music was too loud but they turned it down so I could better hear the waitress who was very attentive and pleasant.

The pork chop entree was very good but the She-crab soup appetizer was so salty we had to ask for something else. We changed to gumbo and it was really good. Watch out when you pay. The handheld they bring to the table has an auto 20% tip but is not clearly stated so we basically tipped 40% and didn’t realize it until we got home and looked at the receipt.
