Featuring a comprehensive selection of more than 200 whiskeys alongside what has been called the country’s best burger, Village Whiskey is an instant classic. Envisioned by Chef Garces as a spot where he and his team could enjoy a drink and a snack after a long night in the kitchen, the restaurant’s focal point is the central bar that is home to their near-encyclopedic catalogue of Chef Garces’ favorite spirit, whiskey. Our able bartenders shake and stir classic and contemporary cocktails in a space evocative of a Prohibition-era speakeasy. It was my first time visiting Village Whiskey and it was wonderful! The service was great, loved the ambiance, delicious food, and one of the best Manhattans I’ve ever had. Would definitely go back, hopefully soon!

Adorable place with every whiskey you could imagine. The staff was friendly and the food very yummy. My son said the tater tot appetizer was the best he’s ever had. I do wish the whisky tasting flight was a little heavier a pour

One of our favorites in Philly but it missed the mark on this visit. Incredibly noisy, our waiter appeared overwhelmed and forgot our appetizers, food didn’t taste as good as prior visits. Bland as if they forgot to season the burger meat. Will give one more chance before taking it off the list. Could have been a fluke.

We ordered from the restaurant week special menu and thoroughly enjoyed everything. In fact my husband said his branzino was the best fish he’s ever had! Highly recommend!

Loved eating here! Came for restaurant week, drinks were not my favorite (we got craft cocktails) but the food was very good!

When your specialty is burgers, they should be better than hockey puck flavorless meat patties delivered by a clueless food server who had no idea how each was cooked and ordered. Then he clearly went back in the kitchen and had someone throw a slice of unmelted cheese on one after they were brought to the table wrong. Waitress was lovely. Ambience is great.

We were seated in the wine store, and had fully expected to be in the dining room. Our table was right by the door and both our meals and ourselves were frozen every time people came in off the street. Unacceptable to be seated in that space without being told when we made our reservation - it is not the experience we expect from Vernick.

I and my group went to Village Whiskey for the first time yesterday during restaurant week. The dining room had several empty tables. We found the food to be mediocre at best. Cher Garrces other restaurants usually offer high quality food and preparation. The eggplant toast appetizer was quite good with a brightness that was appreciation. Likewise the sausage and cleared honey on the meat and cheese plate were exceptional. On the other hand the homemade tater tots were dimunitive and flavorlesss. The VW Mac burger was unimpressive being compsed of two thin beef patties (smashed burgers) on a soft bun that were overwhelmed with the thick pickle slices that were on the sandwich. The smoked thousand island sauce was too subtle when paired with the rest of the burger compoents to be flavorful. Finally the pecan pie a la mode dessert was too sweet with maple syrup taking center stage in the dish as opposed to its traditional role of enhancing the dessert. All in all, we were disappointed with the meal, but in fairness Philly is experiencing a new boom in restaurant faire with creative chef's exhibiting their visions in ever interesting and creative ways. Given my admiration for Chef Garces, I will return in the spring when the pressures of Restaurant Week are over to see if the food has evolved to the level that we expect from Chef Garces.
