The food was delicious and well priced and the setting had a luxurious, moody vibe. Unfortunately the service wasn’t the best we’ve had. The restaurant was very quiet at lunch time, with only one other diner. There seemed to be 2 or 3 people working in the restaurant. Our server rarely smiled and wasn’t the friendliest person, no one asked if our food was OK (starter or main), we asked for drinks rather than being offered and the water we asked for was forgotten. Understandable if they were busy, not so much when they’re quiet. Not massive issues for sure, but enough to be noticeable as slightly lacking. Shame as the food and setting were great.

Lovely mussels for myself and fish & chips for him. The dessert menu is a let down though 😞

A nice relaxed Sunday afternoon in the restaurant downstairs, served by friendly and familiar faces. The Sunday menu for 2 at £55, which also includes a bottle of wine, is great value.

Welcoming host (young gentleman) was very polite and engaging! Older blonde lady was quite passive aggressive during an encounters with the table. The standard of the Sunday roast was poor - poor quality beef, questionable roast potatoes and poorly cooked vegetables, though the Yorkshire pudding was good. A noticeable lack of gravy. No table check-ins during the meal and took a while for plates to be cleared/bill to be provided. Overall a disappointing experience unfortunately.

We were on a virgin voucher so choice was different to main menu. Still plenty to choose and excellent quality. Friendly and accommodating staff

Overall, the experience at this restaurant was excellent. The food was great, the service was good, and I enjoyed my birthday meal. The only thing mentioned by my friends was that the music was a little loud. I will definitely be coming back soon. Thank you!

Visited with a party of 5 for a birthday booking. The starters were all lovely besides one of them being forgotten however it was classed as a side so that could’ve been the confusion, it was then forgotten again with the main and when we asked for it, it arrived incorrect, we sent it back and it was corrected so no harm there. The mains had some mixed reviews, the steaks weren’t warm considering they were over cooked. I ordered the lamb which was ridiculously overcooked but completely cold and missing the sauce, the waiter was more than happy to take it back and said that the chef was recooking the food. I appreciate this isn’t a quick process but everyone had finished long before the food arrived again. Once it did arrive only the meat had been remade, I received the same dish with the meat added on top. It was again overcooked and horribly charred. The waiter asked me if it was ok and I said yes at first but when he asked again, considering I didn’t eat it I said unfortunately it was no better. He was happy to comp it as I hadn’t eaten it and he was more than apologetic and lovely. Cannot fault the service at all he went above and beyond at every step, he even brought me a complimentary drink while I waited for the food. I would overall recommend this place as it’s lovely and the other dishes and starters were lovely. I would visit again based on this and the service. Just a shame about some of the food, the chef has let the restaurant down on this occasion. Even more of a shame because it was for my birthday - to note an additional discount was added to the bill which we didn’t and wouldn’t have asked for so that was more than kind of them

We had a lovely meal, myself and sister in law had the hanging kebab with fries and a dip, absolutely beautiful. Our friend had fish and chips and she said that was beautiful too. We had 2 rounds of cocktails which were on 2 for £14. The staff were lovely so helpful. We love eating at Velvet
