Vernick Fish presents Philadelphia’s own, Chef Greg Vernick’s exploration beyond the boundaries of a seafood restaurant. His ingredient-driven cooking style, paired with a love for global flavors, results in an inventive menu of fish and shellfish dishes, and a range of vegetable preparations. Taking a detailed, seasonal, and sustainable approach with small and large plate offerings, the kitchen brings new life to the favorite hallmarks of American oyster bar fare and raw bar. This was our second time at Vernick and a real disappointment. We were seated in a separate area from the main dining room, with no ambience and a view of the parking garage. My husband waited about 20 minutes for his cocktail and finally changed his order to wine. Crudo was so salty and over sauced that the fish was undetectable. Tomatoes in tomato salad also tasteless. For $40 I got a piece of bass 4 inches wide and 1/2 inch thick, heavily blackened, which was the only flavor I tasted. Mocha pie was weirdly bitter. The only excellent dish was the halibut. Completely not worth the exorbitant prices.

The food was so good. If I had known this was a hotel restaurant I probably would not have gone, but OMG, I am so glad I did. I only give five stars if something is memorable. I had two perfect fish dishes at Vernick -- a yellowfin crudo and poached halibut. They were so good that I will be thinking about them for days, maybe longer. I look forward to going back the next time I am in Philadelphia.

The staff was terrific and the chairs were very comfortable. The overall ambiance was lovely. The experience was a good one. Some of the food was outstanding and some was just fine but not extraordinary. The halibut, the crudos, the bread and butter, the salad and the chocolate sorbet were terrific. Other food we ordered was fine but not exceptional.

Food and server were amazing. Everything.. from small plates to the desserts for all four in our party were flavorful, fresh and delectable. Highly recommend and we will be back for sure!

We had a lovely, but very expensive dinner at Vernick. The food and service were outstanding. The room was freezing cold - someone might want to look at adjusting the temperature as it was uncomfortable. My scallops were excellent. The swordfish was oddly prepared, my husband did not love it. Our server was very knowledgeable and went the extra mile to make sure our needs were met. Just be aware that our meal (one glass of wine each, one shared appetizer, 2 main courses and a vegetable) was over 200.00.

This is an easy one. Everything about it is five stars. Lovely ambiance, great service, delicious appetizers, drinks, entrees and desserts. Enjoyed every moment and will return. Will also recommend. Keep doing what you’re doing!
