Vernick Fish presents Philadelphia’s own, Chef Greg Vernick’s exploration beyond the boundaries of a seafood restaurant. His ingredient-driven cooking style, paired with a love for global flavors, results in an inventive menu of fish and shellfish dishes, and a range of vegetable preparations. Taking a detailed, seasonal, and sustainable approach with small and large plate offerings, the kitchen brings new life to the favorite hallmarks of American oyster bar fare and raw bar. Complementing the experience are well-crafted cocktails, and a focused wine list of seafood-friendly white and sparkling offerings, as well as light, fresh reds.

    The food was fantastic and sitting at the chef's counter is always fun. The biggest disappointment was the service, which I can't say was bad but rather just not up to the level you would expect from the restaurant.

    This was a special theme dinner with Chef Donald Link from New Orleans. Although the food was excellent, we were disappointed in several areas. First, we were seated in a back room so far away from the jazz band that we could hardly hear them. The live music was one of the reasons we were there. I asked to be moved closer to the band and hostess said she would check but never bothered to come back so we were stuck in the back of beyond. Understand that someone had to sit back there but I made the reservation many weeks in advance so I think we should have had a better table. Absolutely no ambiance in the back room. When the guest chefs were speaking you could barely hear them and could not see them at all. It felt like we were not really part of the event. We were also supposed to have oysters Rockefeller as a passed hors d’oeuvres which never made it to the back room. I asked a server who said she would check but again never came back with an answer. No excuse for that. This was a pricey meal ($210 for 5 courses plus drinks) and was just disappointing. Even the playlist while the band wes on break was ridiculous. With all the amazing music from New Orleans to play hits from the 80’s ( Sussuidio - really??) just shows a lake of planning and attention to detail. I expected more from Vernick Fish and the Four Seasons.

    Twice in two weeks! Had to come back for the lobster- it was buttery, cooked perfectly with a refreshing and light side salad of cucumber, tomatoes, avocado and onion. Tuna crudo was amazing (rice cracker had seasoning I could not pinpoint) and oysters are always fresh, no sand with good horseradish. Server was also very sweet, giving her recommendations and menu favorites.

    Starting with the food, simply the best creative and flawlessly executed fish in the city. Our server demonstrated a tremendous amount of food and wine knowledge presented in an even keeled and down to earth manor. Of course the building and ambiance were beautiful but in this case 3rd to the food and service which speaks to the quality of the experience.
