Peter and Diane Hall & Chef Derek of Van Rensselaer's proudly continue to serve the freshest locally caught seafood, superbly prepared meats wonderful poultry, and a wide variety of salads, in addition to great homemade sauces, and desserts
Desserts are homemade and Chef Derek was written up for being a top Hawaiian Baking Chef in Hawaii for his Bread Pudding.
We have two small patios, open air with heaters and umbrellas as needed, An eight table screened in awning covered porch as our outside areas.
Our inside tables are well spaced, with black linen table clothes. Staff is noted for its professionalism and friendliness. We welcome you to Van Rensselaer's.

We are proud to say we are Level 1 Green certified! Check out our newly renovated bar for dinner or just a drink.

    Wonderful dinners. Seafood Linguine, shrimp Mediterranean style were terrific. Our server, Ben, was knowledgeable, pleasant and helpful. A great place for an above average evening.

    Glad to be able to have dinner before they close. Had our favorite dishes one more time. Miss them already. The food was wonderful and service was great.

    We couldn’t find many restaurants that are open all year round near where we were staying in Truro in October. Happily, we found Van Rensselaer. The place is huge and very busy. I can only imagine how busy it must be during the summer! Four of us had four different meals - all were excellent. We liked that many meals came in two sizes. The smaller size was perfect for me. My husband had the regular size. Desserts were very good too. When the house is full it’s pretty noisy. Our waitress was always in a rush and sometimes a bit abrupt. All the wait staff seemed to be rushing. I hope they’re paid well 😊. Bottom line - we do recommend because the food was excellent and the prices are fair. The owners are very nice.

    The Staff was incredible and the food was great. Courteous, attentive, kind and amicable. We will gladly return here in the spring and beyond!

    This is an outstanding restaurant, wonderful food and service. They make maximum effort to accommodate my date and I during the busy summer Cape Cod madhouse. Highly recommended.

    Never fails us! Our "go to" restaurant. Wonderful owners and great staff. the food is always excellent. Drinks are generous. Only a seasonal restaurant (too bad!), but that gives the others a chance!

    Highly recommend!! Food was fresh, tasty, and the presentation was beautiful!! Service was outstanding! We celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary and they were so kind to buy us a dessert to share. Everything was perfect!! We will return again every time we come to the cape!
