With a curated menu of elevated tailgate fare and an extensive bar program, Utopian Tailgate delivers high times, chill vibes, and an unforgettable experience where the party never ends... and neither do the views.

Perched high atop Piper's Alley, above world-famous comedy enclave The Second City, Utopian Tailgate is Chicago's best never-ending rooftop party. Super-sized Jenga, drinking games, disco dance party, and a whole lot more mix with elevated eats and whimsical whistle-wetters all year ‘round.

Reservations are encouraged, but we always accept walk-ins until we reach capacity. Reservations will be held for 15 minutes. We offer indoor and outdoor table reservations, as well as party booths (with minimum required spend). We're a 21+ venue.

Was an overall nice time. Can be nice for two which was my case and for groups. Nice games to play. (uno, cards, bags, beer pong). Can be loud so just be aware. Food and drinks was solid, nothing amazing. Our server was great too, amazing views

I made reservations on OpenTable for a Saturday on the rooftop at 3pm. I arrived 10 mins early, I was told I had to wait until the 2 hour limit on the table was up. Which was fine we were early. We waited and then I checked in again, they then couldn’t “find” my reservation after I had already checked in. After some time, they found it and sat my friends and I. The host said a server would be over, we waited almost 30 mins and no one offered water, food, drinks nothing. I went back up front and I said my friends are sat at this table. She then asked if I had reservations, I said yes she said who then I gave her my name and then she said again she couldn’t find and asked who sat me? I said YOU! She then realized a server never came because she never removed the cone sitting at our table. No apology, now free drinks, complimentary anything. Are server was short, didn’t check on us much and barely gave us a chance to respond. Just wasnt great as expected. I enjoyed the music. Not sure I’ll fast I’ll be back to visit or recommend.

Food was bland and expensive you really have to be intoxicated to like the food lol . Everything else was outstanding

Very disorganized and unprepared. Even with a reservation, it took staff 15 minutes to clear and find us a table. Ridiculous. Out server came around exactly 3 times. And with the rain this place should have a back up plan for the roof, as so most rooftop places.

I had a blast at Utopian Tailgate! Quickly the negatives, it’s fairly expensive and I would suggest getting a reservation for a table like we did or you will stand the whole time. Positives: such a fun atmosphere, the service was great, and the games are a nice switch up from your average Chicago bar where you just drink and can’t hear the person in front of you. 10/10 would recommend for a birthday, celebration, or just a fun night out with friends.

This place is great if you want to enjoy some city views and play games with friends. As far as food goes we order the nachos and fries, the fries were good but the nachos were mediocre, no flavor and not enough beans or toppings. Other than food it was a good time.
