Upstate Craft Beer & Oyster Bar puts what it does right in its name. This is a place custom designed for fans of local small-batch brews and a well-stocked raw bar. The inside of the restaurant is as cozy and comfortable as one would expect, as it is a relaxed atmosphere similar to a sports bar in the off-season. One of the keys to Upstate's success is its commitment to freshness. So much so that there isn't even a freezer in the building as everything is brought in fresh daily.Obviously, the oysters and clams are what most patrons come for, and Upstate's selection of west and east coast varieties changes every day, depending on what is available. That's certainly not the only thing on the menu, though. Guests can try out shared plates of house cured salmon, crab cakes, squid salad and even sea urchin.

the beer selection can be bad. my favorite is unfiltered wheat beer. i think it goes best with oysters. the beer on tap is constantly changing and that's good. but often we have three IPAs, three pilsners and no wheat on tap. i think that's wrong. there should be at least one of each style of beer

This was my first visiting Upstate Craft Beer & Oyster Bar post COVID and while the space is smaller than I remembered, the food is still superb! If you’re in the area check it out, you will not disappointed.

Our server was the rudest server I had ever encountered. So rude and angry that we had to leave before ordering anything.

Lovely staff. Good oysters. I was underwhelmed with the soft shell crab and shrimp dishes I had. A lot of breading, not much flavor. My dining partners enjoyed their fettuccine and clam dish and their tuna tartare and the crab cakes—which I tasted and though were too much filling, not enough crab.

Friendly and attentive service. Food was delicious! I had scallops that melted in my mouth. It's a small place so the noise level gets a little high when it's at capacity. If you like oysters, definitely check it out.
